    Is it any good?

    • +1

its not bad, actually it nice after a hot day.

    • +6

Didn't like my first sip, but it really grew on me. Certainly not as good as regular Cooper's beers, but it's very drinkable when it is chilled.

    • I like it. Good beer.

    • I agree with the others. It's clean and crisp yet still a little tasty.

    • +5

No. Cleared it with the mods before posting :)

    • It's 90c cheaper!

  • +4

So where its made it costs more. Logic.

    • +14

      10c x 24 = $2.40 cashback in Ozbargain language!
So 40c cheaper where it's made after "cashback".

      • Just ordered a case. Darn. Totally forgot cashback.

        • +7

Cash back referred to here is the refund for cans in SA

        • @sqeeksqeek: oh ok Thanks

      • Hello , sorry I am new to cashback. Would you mind sharing how to apply for cash back. thanks.

Sign up to Cashrewards or whatever the little Thumbs Up logo is in the Cashback section above.
Log in to their site, search for Dan Murphy and follow the link then buy your goods.

Cashrewards has an excellent little browser Addon for Chrome and Firefox to auto-notify you.
My Cashrewards benefits have skyrocketed since installing it! So many places I and my wife buy from provide a little kickback and I would never have even thought of Cashrewards.

        • @scubacoles: Thanks

Cans/bottles almost always cost more in SA to compensate for the "refund" on recyclables…

      • +1

That's annoying because I prefer to put my cans and bottles in the recycling bin to save me the trouble of taking them to a bottle and can recycling depot.
So rather than losing "bonus" money, I'm paying a deposit up front but not claiming it later.

        • Yep, same dumb arse scheme will hit NSW later in the year.

        • +9

@Rod71: The dumb part is that we don't return them to the bottleshop in what (should be the hard crate) we buy them in the first place. Sent back to the producer for re-use and not waste the energy on recycling at all.

        • +1

@Rod71: watch how much cleaner your parks and streets become. It's a friggen awesome scheme.

        • @jaypeee: I actually see more bags of maccas crap rather than cans and bottles. My only issue is that I'm already paying for a recycling service through my council rates. So I can hoard all the bottles and cans and waste time and money carting them across town to get my money back, or put them into the recycling bin so the council (Who i'm already paying) can cash them in.

    • Price difference will be the recyclable container deposit?

    • +1

Yeah that's what I did as my nearest dans is 45 minutes away.

    • Legend!!!!

  • +2

Watch out, as commenters said in the previous post (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/292970), this is weak in taste like beer flavoured soda water.
That's probably still better than Corona at least.

Anyone got a mail truck? I sense a SA bottle deposit scam in the works….

    • I hear there's a lot of empties on the SA/Vic border…

  • +3

i cant remember if ive had this or coopers clear before. come to think of it, probably coopers clear.

went ahead and got 2x cartons anyway. came out at $53 as dans gave me some kind of loyalty discount plus CR too. cant complain about that

    • good one, same here, extra $5 off.

      • +1

CR tracked at $2… so grand total $51 for two cartons is pretty great

        • +1

          thanks for sharing
          also thanks OP

    • +1

This is promo for the 2017 Australian Open so you've more likely to have had Clear before.

    • Coopers clear is a magnificent beer, whereas this summer legends beer that I'm drinking now is ordinary. its only good because its cheap

  • +3

Just (20 minutes) bought some from BWS ($33).. it's not bad. I've drunk a lot worse. I've also drunk a lot of the 'cheap import' ~ $30 cheapest beer in BWS/Liquorland type beers like the Oettinger and others like that. It's not any worse but I don't find those beers too bad typically. It's got a flavour but it's obviously not a typical Coopers. But if it was, it wouldn't be "'light' refreshing summer knock back 20" beer. Try drinking 20 Coopers Pale ales and see how you feel. Probably not going to be good (probably not good with this either lol).

  • It's not bad, light tasting, kinda like a bintang or something similar from memory.
Good for $29 per carton anyway.

  • +10

Got some to take to parties. Others can drink this while I enjoy their expensive craft beers.

    • Ooo I do rate this devilish scheme. Thanks for the lol Sir Clenchcheeks

    • Know a bloke that used to do this back in our younger days. He went next level though and would wheel out any left over expensive beers at the end.

      • +2

        C***!

  • This seems to be old stock. Last time when I brought home and opened the case some of the cans have worn out / sought of rusted from the bottom. Dan M were good to replace the case and refund the money at the same time.
    The next case was good.
Taste is average I would say.

    • +1

This line was released for the tennis this year, so I'm not sure if there any "old stock" exists. Probably just poor storage by Dan's

      • Could be true ( poor storage)

      • On the cans: The official beer partner of the Australian Open
        Expiry: 02/09/17

        Should be OK.

After being disappointed in the latest Dan Murphy's members club offers, I am pleasantly surprised to see this beer on offer again. I bought a couple of boxes last time around. Like others have said, it is maybe not the greatest beer… but it is far from the worst. I quite like it to be honest and for this price it represents great value. If you can't get over drinking from a baby blue skinny can, simply pour it into your favorite man mug, goon glass, or camelback!! Pour three of them into your uncles Bavarian stein and smash em down!! Who cares!!! This is good value and gets an upvote from me!!

  • Lager? Similar to?

  • These won't fit a common garden variety stubby holder will they?!

    • +1

They'll fit the slim Coopers one.

      • Where does one acquire such a product? Doesn't look to be at Dans - or the coopers site.

        • It was a free promo item when they changed the shape of the Coopers brown bottles.

        • @sween64: thanks - will find something.

  • For those who are thinking to buy, please do yourself a favor. I just opened a can. It tastes terrible.

    • +3

A gulp is not enough. You need to drink much more - it gets better ;)

      • Like religion?

  • +1

I just tried this. Much better than Oettinger !!

    • Agreed - picked some up to take camping as I prefer to taking bottled beer when we head away - tried one last night. Not bad! Certainly an improvement over some others that do cans, like Coors…

Cricketers Arms is a different league but from memory their pale ale is $65+ for a carton. Different game.

  • got a few cases of this to keep on hand last week where it was $30 at BWS and $29.50 at Dans.
Not the best tasting drop, but for the price, perfectly drinkable while watching the footy. Others at this price point i've not enjoyed at all.
