  • done, fingers crossed it works. Thanks

  • Thankya

  • I know what you mean!

  • This is now closed due to Oz Bargainers (we must have swamped them!)

    • lol!

I'll see your lol, & raise you a ROFL! ;)

        • …and I'll see your ROFL & raise you a LMFAO!

          • @Horizon: Too rich for my blood, I fold! ;)

            …actually, I think that's what Nulon said too! :o

    • LoL Thats gold!

      • I'll see your gold, and raise you a Color Printer Ink!

  • I hope the people who filled in the survey didn't do it just to get 'free s**t'.

This stuff WORKS, the MSDS is a little restrictive, but it's a very good product.

Last time I poured it into my 94 octane fuel, all I heard was bang bang BOOOOOOM. The arse dyno registered another 5kw. It cleans out your engine and improves performance etc etc. It's definately not snake oil

    • "Last time I poured it into my 94 octane fuel, all I heard was bang bang BOOOOOOM."

      Is that a good thing?

      • Put it this way, it sounded like someone just shot some nitrous up it

    • Couldn't you just pour in 98 instead?

TBH, I've never felt anything from these products, including this one. But I do notice significant loss of fuel economy when I use fuel with lower octane ratings.

      • Not when 94 is the best the station has and you NEED fuel.

  • Damn you oz bargains lol.. :)

What? They stopped their survey because of an OZBargain post? Should we then call for a OZBargain wide boycott of Nulon Products?

    • wrong audience i guess. it was posted on car forums a few days ago

    • Hear hear!
On that note I don't recall ever needing to use fuel additives, so life goes on as per usual I guess. XD

      • Boosting the octane level using third party additives such as Nulon's is always more expensive than just purchasing 95 or 98 octane unleaded fuel in the first place. Some stations sell ethanol blends of 100 octane.

Importantly, drivers of cars that do not require 95 or 98 octane fuel will see no significant improvement in performance. Only cars with high compression ratios require better than 91 unleaded fuel. Some cars will see a very marginal improvement in fuel economy (around 2 to 3%), but since higher octane fuel is at least 5% more expensive there is no real gain.

Marketers of course continue to push the 'more power, greater economy' myth to the average punter as premium fuel is more profitable to produce.

        • +1

Indeed. In fact, most people don't even know what the octane rating actually means. It's not a measure of power. Ethanol increases the octane rating of regular unleaded, but actually decreases the energy content.

The octane rating measures how much you can compress the atomised fuel without it auto-igniting. That's all. No boost in power.

it's why you should always use higher octane fuels in some cars. If you used regular fuel in these cars, it would ignite prematurely, and the engine would knock itself to death.

          • @deek: I'm fairly certain that my car, an E46 BMW, detects the octane rating of the fuel that it is being fed. Based on that info, it will change it's state of tune to compensate, hence why I believe the fuel economy loss is so noticeable when moving to a lower octane rating.

    • Was it really necessary to name OzBargain as the cause? More publicity for us at any rate.

      • +1

Okay Nulon can go screw itself (not swearing), Ozbargain is at fault hello how about setting up a freebie properly and understanding how the internet works.

What a bunch of tossers the people at Nulon are, good effort at tyring to get Ozbargainers interested in their product pffft

  • Hmm, wonder if they'll honour it for those of us who completed their survey?

I kinda thought exposure to a fairly diverse audience like OzB would be exactly what they would want for a promo; most car forum guys are probably already buying their stuff anyway???

  • Hi Guys - just to clarify what happened and comment on StewBalls comment.

The survey was taken down as it was specific to car forum users (who were being solely targeted) with the prize being offered for a small number of answers only. Once OZ bargains comes on-board we received the same amount of replies in 30 minutes than we did in 4 days. The survey was not designed or intended for this so it was taken down.

If we were to open up a survey or free prize draw - what would you guys like to see? I noticed that some people do know about Nulon and would be happy to run a prize draw for the Oz Bargains - just tell me what you would like the chance to win.

    • +1

I don't believe that answers Stewballs main comment - will the people that managed to complete have their entry honoured?

    • I would like to win some sponsorship for my kart team :p

      • Not sure if this stuff will work in a Mario Kart, dude! :p

        • Lucky I use the wrist strap then. :)

I was referring to a real kart tho.

  • +2

To answer Stewballs and Lazed question is YES, all people that did answer the survey will receive a bottle of Nulon Octane Booster. The only entrants that were deleted were PO Box addresses and duplicate entries, both of which were stated at the start.
The prizes will start to be processed this week, and should be received over the next week or so.

Antman76: Post your details about your Karting and I will have a look.

    • True to their word, mine turned up today in the mail! :D

I take back all the bad things I was thinking about Nulon! I won't feel like a sellout coz I really do like their engine oil additives; and probably wouldn't have stopped using them anyway! :p
