I know my diet hasn't been good but i now i am wondering what that think piece of crap inside my belly looks like.

Isn't it a little early? lol

Do you mean to say that you think there is something in your belly causing it to protrude as opposed to just having a gut? Lol

You sure you can see the rest of your body properly with your belly sticking out.

  • Talk to your doctor? They could likely organise for you to get a ultrasound

They sure can "explain" it at first but if you are too curious then they can send you to CT scan. It is a bit intrusive (radiation) but nothing that the doctors would be afraid of sending a patient to. The scan shows the layers and if you specifically ask the radiologist (via your doctor), they can determine the material, e.g. lipid (fat), liquid, muscle.

Ultrasound is very limited compared to CT.

i suspect a gp is not going to refer someone for a ct scan without symptoms just for a bit of belly fat because of concerns about radiation exposure and the $$$$ it costs.

      • CT scan also has poor contrast when looking at the bowels. If there was anything wrong with your gut, they would probably do a colonography, which involves using an endoscope and CT

for men, the belly & lower back is where fat usually accumulates first. so even if you are "skinny" there is probably a fair bit of subcutaneous fat and visceral fat tucked away down there. eating a healthy diet and exercise would be my first suggestion.

i've had an ultrasound of my abdomen before and you could sort of see the layer of subcutaneous fat, but i think you need a trained eye to make everything out.

i don't know how useful a dexa scan would be if you want to see the layers in your belly region. it would certainly give you an estimate of your visceral fat.

i thinks you are best off consulting a gp if you are concerned that something might be wrong.

You might have a gas buildup. Eat lots of onions and maybe get a small child to jump up and down on your tum.

  • Two things.
Maybe get tested for bacterium infection? Like biafrins, even small children, had very big bellies even if starving due to infected water sources. Cant remember details, but perhaps you have something like that?

Regarding seeing inside belly. Isn't that what endoscopy is for. To inspect down our throat to the small intestine. And up the digestive tract as well.

I've had this done twice, and required a few hours in hospital.

    Do you have digestive discomfort?

    Best of luck.

    • Read his post again.

    • I think you mean Kwashiorkor, and it's not due to bacteria or infected water sources

  • yeah bacteria. i recken you got the case of the hungry somalian stocmach

It sounds like a combination of poor diet, lack of exercise and weak core.

You're skinny fat mate. Time to hit the treadmill.

    • +2

treadmill will make him even more "skinny fat". Hit the weights instead

      • I think you're right mate. I have done thread mills and i lost no weight.

        • Key to weight loss is having a good diet rather than exercise. Don't rely just on hitting the cardio expecting results, and you shouldn't expect results fast either. They take a while to develop, most of the time over months rather than weeks.

    • Why do you read such bullsh%ts :D

  • Can you see your toes standing straight?

Either you are just fat, or you have a medical condition. Either way, see a doctor. Most likely you are just fat and it all sits on your midsection.

If you really want to know if it's just fat you can pay to get a DEXA scan done. It's a body composition scan and you can get them done without referrals in many locations (google body composition scan and your city name and you'll get a list of clinics).

    • Was about to suggest this myself. Quite often I see them popping up on groupon/cudo etc for super cheap ($29-$49)

grabbing your gut with your hand and seeing if you can pull away a big roll of fat would be simplest and cheapest :)

  • Hernia?

  • inside my belly looks like

    Blood and guts.

  • Explorative laparoscopy
