  • Yeah, you can still purchase an item, but if you look closely in the basket you can see it says 'out of stock'. Bloody OzBargained! :(

  • Bought HR! Thanks OP

  • Ozbargained within 1 hour!

  • I got this email, don't know if my order will be cancelled or fulfilled.

"It looks like you've ordered a special product that can only be supplied by our Distribution centre so we've redirected your order
    to them."

    • +1

Same :( order was placed 9:17 and was being processed then i got the above email….hopefully the order goes through!

  • +2

I'd check out the reviews for the Charge HR on Facebook. I purchased 1 and had to have two returns within a year. It's full of faults and tends to break easily.

    • Out of the millions sold there will be issues. My current one has been used and abused and surprised it is still working.

      • +1

There are more than just a few issues. As you'll see in the Fitbit support forum, it is commonplace for people to have had 3-4 returns within one year. The same problems are happening because of defects in product design, and many people have sworn off the brand altogether.

        • +1

Kudos. Brand bubbling/coming off has been a common issue in my experience and I am one of those with 3 returns in 12 months!

    • +1

Same here. When I got it initially, the battery didn't last for a day.

  • adds to cart but then when i go to cart its empty..?

    • Think this is their temporary solution to being able to purchase out of stock products

  • +8

How is possible, in 2017, that you have 75 units to sell & you oversell by 600 units before you removed the item? I'd almost understand it if it was a once off, a glitch, but this has happened before with the co-op. Might it be time to invest in software that handles inventory numbers to stop these types of embarrassing debacles?

    • Because it cost them $$$…

      • Wouldn't it cost them $$$ having to manually refund 525+ orders?

        • The only person who suffers is the poor guy who handles refunds as he just got a lot busier. Refund transaction cost probably pocket money to the company compared to time and effort and money to upgrade the system.

    • Because it's ozbargain….why invest thousands of dollars into a system that we will probably crash

    • It is possible, it happened. It's not embarrassing either.

      • +1

They had 75 units. Sold 600. 525 people have will now have to wait days (and accept the dissappointment of being misled) & co-op have to take staff offline to manually deal with & refund each order. Given this has happened before … I'd say at the least, it's slightly embarrassing & at worst, hurts the co-op brand.

        • +10

Hey Sinners007! Thanks for getting involved. I totally understand what you're saying, and trust me when I say we didn't expect for it to blow up like this. We, ourselves, made a decision internally to keep the offer off of OzBargain to avoid the disappointment you mentioned above (due to the stock levels), but with a deal so good, it's only natural that the community picked it up. Our system isn't as fast as you all are, so you're right - this is something we're needing to fix, and we are, it's in development at the moment.

Fortunately, you can rest assured knowing that there aren't 525 people waiting in eager anticipation to know if they were in luck or not, as there were a couple of orders for 100+ units. Sadly, there will be some disappointment, and for that - I'm deeply and sincerely sorry.

I really appreciate you offering your thoughts on this, I hope we can provide you with an incredible deal soon :)

        • +9

          @The Co-op NG:

"as there were a couple of orders for 100+ units."
          lol! massive vultures around.

        • +2

A couple of orders for 100+ units!

        • +2

          @The Co-op NG: 100+ units; lolz broden!

        • +2

It kinda makes sense that you are able to put orders in for out of stock goods, as they will usually be able to put it on back-order from the supplier.

It's a shame that they don't have a function to switch this off for goods that are clearance / won't be able to be re-supplied.

But at the end of the day, many people continued with their purchase after the product said out of stock at their own risk, knowing it would be clearance of an old product line.

        • -1

@irecu: dude, it said it will be fulfilled by backorder. That's why I trusted it rather than ordering the black one which had stock!!!! I am a member of co-op and already had to pay shipping too

  • +1

    Inb4 mass refunds

  • I have switched from fitbit HR to apple watch recently after using and motivated by fitbit for 2 years. Now I am self-motivated in training. No need anyone to tell me how many steps I have walked and not really interested in competing with anyone either. The only thing I missed is probably the sleep tracking. Somehow Apple think people should not wear watch while sleeping.

    • "Somehow Apple think people should not wear watch while sleeping."
I agree, this is a weird thing as sleep is actually an important activity to track over time.

  • +3

for whoever misses this deal, get a miband 2 which is much better!

    • Is it as accurate as the fitbit?

    • Could you explain how the miBand2 is better? have you owned both? thanks

      • +2

function wise they are similar, but miband 2 has much loooooonger battery life than fitbit hr. I have been using my fitbit hr for over a year. i need to recharge it approx every 4 days. it is not intolerable (particularly compared to those smart watches), but not pleasant either. in terms of accuracy, frankly they are good enough for my needs (the question is how accurate you want them to be?)

i saw this deal a few seconds after the op posted it, i gave it a pass (i certainly had enough time to purchase a few and resell them on ebay, but i would rather leave them to others).

the reason miband 2 is cheap is not because they are crap, it is just because often mi's stuff have much better values than their competitors.

      • +2

I haven't owned a miBand but I have owned a Fitbit Charge HR and it is a terrible product. It's not a product for everyday use even though it's advertised so - you can't replace the band and that often bubbles or breaks, the battery life goes from good to bad to worse in just a couple of months, and the screen gets scratched very easily.

I had 2 returns under my one year warranty, and after one month my newest Charge needed replacing. If you look through reviews you'll see that it's common for people to go through 3 or 4 Charges in a year. The product design is seriously defective and I wouldn't use one even if I got it for free.

Fitbit is as prominent as it is because it buys out competitors i.e. smaller fitness tracker companies. It makes itself look better by narrowing your options.

Read through Facebook visitor posts and Fitbits own support forums. You'll see the same sort of stuff repeated over and over again. This is why they are phasing out the product and it is as cheap as it is.

  • +1

I spent 25 dollars for coop membership cant believe I missed it. Why wouldnt they let us know first……

    • +1

I have to agree. I think I would rather do exclusive member-only sales a day or two before public sales as this rewards people who have a membership rather than people who want to buy 100 simply to resell on eBay and gumtree.

      • Members can buy 100s+ and still .25cent per item towards membership.

    • Fitbit one?

    • Wow, uncool. I didn't even get a reply to my email asking about my order or a note stating why. Just an email from PayPal saying I got a refund.

Bad form. I'm unlikely to buy something from your store again.

  • I would have thought the flex should be cheaper than the charge hr!

  • +1

They did not refund the shipping, Wtf

  • +2

Honestly fitbit products are crap. I'm on my replacement charge hr and almost all of my friends have to replace them by warranty at least once. The fault is that their strap rubber bulging and peeling off the main unit.

Also, the fact that every one of the models have a different charge connector speaks for their engineering abilities.

I paid $45.90. They refunded me today, but it was only a partial refund of $38.95.

    • Still waiting, no message yet

I had the same problem. Waiting on a response.

Hey RyanMK - that's an issue. You should be getting your shipping refunded too. Let me chase it up with the finance team.

      • Hello, appreciate the response! I've just got the remaining amount refunded into my account. Thanks!

  • Just received this email and not happy. I ordered early on, before any of the stock warnings and am now only told today: "Unfortunately, we have been advised by the supplier that the "Fitbit Charge HR Black Large" is currently out of stock. At this point in time we are unable to give an approximate ETA as the supplier does not have a due date for this item. We will cancel and refund your order, and you will see the funds return to your account in about a week. We’re very sorry for any inconvenience this might cause."

    • I wonder how many people will get this email today

  • Ordered on Friday 9am and received this email 3:55pm today

"Unfortunately, we have been advised by the supplier that the "Fitbit Charge HR Plum Small" is currently out of stock. At this point in time we are unable to give an approximate ETA as the supplier does not have a due date for this item. Merged from FITBIT HR CO-OP Bookshop sceam

As an ozbarginer im sure all of you have put down an order for one of the FITBIT HR that was on the current sale from CO-OP Bookshop.

I know i did, which brings me to this topic, i was refunded with no email saying anything, when i contacted the store they were closed,(kinda funny how i rang at the same time i received the refund) i was then able to get in contact with a common supplier regarding the business, and was told that the company did it as a sceam to create a mailing list and never had stock of this item, which now makes me think , should they possibly be banned for dodgy deals?

    • Definitely a sceam.
      /sarcasm
The co-op bookshop has the details of just about every Australian who has enrolled in a university degree. I don't think they are using advertising errors to build a list of people worried about sceams.

      • +1

You obviously don't know how a sceam works then.

        • Very true. I am assuming it is a cross between a scheme and a scam, but I don't have any direct experience of them.

    • Hey Avacardooo Rayy Mee! I can confirm we definitely did have stock of the items Irecu listed, but we didn't have a lot. This is why the post was not uploaded by one of our team, it was uploaded by the community!

I'm sorry if you feel you were misled, but as soon as I saw the post I started interacting with the community (and I was 100% forthcoming with the position we were in with stock). If there's anything else we can do, please let me know :)

      Thanks!

      • Hey Rep @ The Co-op NG.

Firstly thanks for assisting the community with regular updates on the thread. Secondly thanks for the wonderful prices. To be honest it was a very good offer !!

One thing I am still trying to figure out is that I had ordered within 10-12 mins of the deal being posted and still didn't get the deal. And I am sure there would be many more similar to myself. Just out of curiosity can you please let us know what was the cutoff time for the last order to be placed which is being fulfilled by you for Fitbit HR Black ?

        Appreciate your assistance !

        Thanks

        • Yup same here no email just notification of PayPal refund. Money is still not in the account.

Classic OzBargain dilemma. Didn't need one but bought it because it was not a lot expensive than a mi band 2.
Now the wait begins for the refund in my account along with 420 bucks from Grayson line on 2x ssds

        • +1

@bamsegod: I contacted their customer care telephone number and got the message that they are no longer available on telephone support and in case of any questions the only way to contact is through email !! This is getting turned into a very bad customer service now.

Hi Store rep [@The Co-op NG] can you confirm that your telephone contact center is no longer available ?

        • -3

@ozshaz: Hi ozshaz, Let me start with your first question!

I was under the impression that the orders were being processed as first in, best dressed. Where in fact the first orders cancelled were the orders that were so large they were unable to be fulfilled. (As you can see from earlier in the thread, stock was limited and some orders were 50-100+ units). As such, it wasn't necessarily a cut off time - it was dependent first on the size of the order and if we were able to fulfill it, and then it went to time of order. I can't actually give a cut off time as I truly don't know - I'm so sorry.

It is concerning that your refund hasn't actually come through bamsegod? Please send me a private message with your order number so I can look into it.

And finally, yes our phone lines our down due to technical issues beyond our control. I'm your best bet for contact at this stage.

On behalf of the Co-op, I am sincerely sorry for this!

          Thanks, NG.

        • @The Co-op NG: Firstly thanks for the reply ! I am very surprised to see that you and your team is not sure how your system works and keep the customers in limbo about their orders. I am very much sure that your so called "technical issues" with regards to the telephone lines started only after this sale went up. I don't think so it is a good way to shut the customers out by switching off the telephone lines.

And with regards to order processing do you want every customer to give a call to your customer service centre to follow up their orders to make sure you are processing it ? Seems like that's the way people are getting their orders fulfilled ! I trusted your ordering system and waited for the process but seems like your company has a different ordering system.

Can you explain why the customers should trust you and your system going forward ?

        • @The Co-op NG: That's a bit of a shame it wasn't first in best dressed. People would have bought a couple for family not knowing stock was so limited so even if you were first in if you bought more than 1 your chances of getting anything were 0% which is a tad unfair.

      • +1

        Dear Co Op NG

My order is still pending (Garmin vivoactive), I called the store it was sent to, they have never stocked it, no store in Australia has it in stock and there are 19 backorders.
Not one store in Australia has even ordered any more, seems like some dodgy business going on here
No communication at all, no refund, no chance of you ordering what is now a superseded model.

        Poor business practices.

        You will hear more

        • Hey giddyupgaz - I've replied to your direct message :)

        • +2

          @The Co-op NG:

          I've replied as well.
But to be honest the reply saying it shouldn't have happened and I will be waiting for up to a week for a refund is farcical

If I hadn't chased this would still be sitting as pending (still is after 1 week) - there are 19 others waiting in the pending file for this item and its not one of the ones advertised above. Taking the money immediately for an item you haven't stocked in months and have no way of re-ordering is an alarm bell for a business running on exceptionally poor IT or business acumen.

Looking at your Facebook feedback this is a common business practice by your business and I feel that many have just rolled over and taken it - you may have found one or two here who won't.
the call centre being unable to take calls due to "technical issues' is poor at best, but the fact we were directed to an email address that has failed over the course of 5 days to reply to any email is appalling.

I think it's time a few more people were aware of your business practices.
Thanks for answering, but hiding some of the facts via PM isn't going to help others from falling prey to similar issues.

The fact you are the only visible presence of contact from the Co-Op makes it easy for us to take out our frustration on you, for this I apologise, but there seems to be no other avenue

        • +1

          @giddyupgaz:
100% with you on all fronts!

        • @giddyupgaz:

Hi again, I wasn't hiding any facts through PM. I saw your PM first, and answered your questions there. I completely understand your frustration, and I am doing my best to accommodate every enquiry that comes through this channel.

The Co-op did not create this post. The influx of traffic was not triggered by us. We were aware of our limited stock on Fitbits (and our limited stock on Garmin) and we actively decided to not share it with the OzBargain community to avoid a situation like this.

It is not correct to say that we haven't stocked the item in months, this product was stocked in two stores until last week, when this post triggered OzBargainers to look at our other tech products. The fact that it is discontinued by the supplier is the sole reason we will not be able to re-order it.

However, you are right - we have a lot to answer for in terms of our response times, and we do need to get our phone lines up and running ASAP. This situation has been incredibly frustrating for many of you, and for that, I apologise profusely. As I mentioned in the PM to you, our Customer Experience Manager will be following up with you from here.

        • +1

@The Co-op NG: only just received and email with my receipt for refund. No one replied to the email regarding the transaction and i never received an email saying my order was going to be cancelled. Poor form Co-op

        • @The Co-op NG:

What two stores had them in stock? None that my research shows. According to your staff that I asked to look online for me.

Also now over 10 days, no response from the emails I sent, calls I made. No communication, no refund.

          Putrid service.

Looking at how many people are dissatisfied and are still waiting for goods or refunds (not on this deal, but on all items it seems) I feel it's time a higher authority was notified.

Surely it's not hard in this technological age to communicate with those who purchase from you in good faith.

    got mine delivered today

    great deal . Thanks OP

    • What model did you get EC?

        • Congrats EC !! May I ask what was your order time. I also ordered for the same thing but no success :-(

        • @ozshaz:

I ordered 30 min after the deal was posted.

When i got the confirmation email (which had the name of the store supplying the fitbit) i called and asked them to mail it ASAP. So they did it manually & i probably skipped the long order queue

Ordered probably within the first minute of this post. Received an email today advising they will refund it and without reasoning
