    • out of interest, which one did you purchase?we got the Charge HR in large.you?

      • HR large black

        • maybe it was the charge that everyone is being refunded for coz other people seem to have recieved theirs.thanks

  • yay I moved $50 form my back account to my Paypal…

WTF I just received a refund for the 2 fitbits I bought but I also bought the coop membership for $25 since it was pretty much for free when buying the fitbits. But they didn't refund the membership cost. I never would have paid for the membership if I knew I wasn't getting the fitbits.

    • Just send them a polite email informing them that you would like a refund as you only signed up to get the discount on the canceled items. Im sure they would be more than happy to assist if you politely explain that to them

      • I'm in the same situation. I've emailed them twice asking if they could refund the membership but yet to receive any reply…

        • if you purchased via paypal just apply for reversal for item not received etc, by cc, just raise a chargeback with the bank.these SHOULD fix the problem I would think.

  • nope, a week later, with no explanation. :(

  • which fitbits did you buy? we got the charge HR in large and were refunded yesterday too. I'm intrigued to know.thanks

  • Now their phone lines are down!

  • ordered one Charge (no HR), and one Charge HR, got both refunds yesterday, but no refund for membership.
I was going to call them to ask them to refund the membership as well, but then I decided to search their site for FitBit again.
And I found out that Fitbit One is also on sale, for $38.95 for members.
Why wasn't FitBit One mentioned in the original post? I think it's a good deal, too.
I ordered two black FitBit One's just now. Not going to cancel that membership now, I suppose.

    • Yep, it is a very good deal! Got 3 😀

  • I got an email from Kate 2 days ago saying it was out of stock and refund would be provided - 3 weeks after purchase… So angry, I bet staff purchased them as mine was ready to be picked but only later did people walk in and buy them at the particular branch ahead of already-placed orders which staff were to lazt to pick as stock was needed. Bunch of clowns! Thanks Kate and Co-Op.

I asked for a refund of my membership and have been refused

"As stated in our terms and conditions our Memberships are non-refundable as they are effectively a share within the company.

Here is the link to our terms and conditions:

    http://www.coop.com.au/membership#terms-conditions

    Kind regards,
    Shivash."

I only ordered the membership as it worked out $2 more expensive the than order for 2 fit bits would have been without it.

I've written back a bit more forcefully than my original polite request and hope they change their tune

The phone lines have not been active for the last week

    Not happy…

    • Me too,
I've emailed them twice requesting a refund on the membership and haven't received any reply.
Tried to call since last week and get a recorded message that "their phone system is experiencing technical difficulties".

I've opened a Paypal dispute for the transaction.

      Will see how it goes.

I also have 1 order that they have said will be refunded but I am yet to receive the paypal refund.

Very poor handling of this whole situation.
I definitely won't be purchasing anything else from Co-Op in the future.

      • Well they finally got back to me after spamming them multiple times over the past 2 weeks:

"Unfortunately, we are unable to refund memberships as
        Co-op Membership is non-refundable.

As membership buys shares in the Co-op, Shares in the Co-operative are non-transferable and non-refundable (http://www.coop.com.au/membership). This would have been in the terms and conditions when you signed."

        What a load of rubbish…

        • +1

I would say there's a pretty good case to be made that the 'membership' is worthless for a company that can't be contacted by phone, takes two weeks to reply by e-mails, two weeks to tell you you won't be getting what you ordered and refund it and therefore is refundable.

If my application is rejected, the Co-operative will send me a written notification and a refund of my membership application moneys and administrative fee (without interest) to the address specified on this form within 30 days of such rejection

So they can choose to refundreject anyone they like… if they find their morals.

I also recall you being able to refund your membership in the past:
          Re: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/190034

Too many people cancelled their useless membership so they decided to change the rules by adding some clause about "membership is buying shares in the company".

    • Just received a reply saying the membership is not refundable. Oh well, just wasted $25 and my time

    • No reply to my follow up and their phone lines are still down
      Paypal dispute lodged.

They reploes but not to my emails but to their facebook inbox stating again they wont refund membership
Fair trading complaint time i guess
        What awful service

@The Co-Op NG I placed an order 10 days ago and there has been no update nor response to my e-mail sent last Thursday. Could you let me know what's going on? Some communication would help alleviate the concern and frustration I think many are feeling.

    • +1

  • Got a refund receipt 24 hours ago… but no refund on my credit card yet.

Phones are off, doesn't respond to e-mails, rep was initially at least of some help but has now gone quiet.

How can you run a "business" like that??? I had never heard of these fools before and I'll just pretend that I never have.

    • It can take up to 3 days

    • On the membership fee?

    • Got it today - thanks for nothing Co-op(ulators.)

Going through my this deal experience and all the comments above seems like this company is doing a lot of dodgy things including a very bad and unresponsive customer service. I strongly feel that looking into the welfare of all the Ozbargain users, this store and rep should be banned from Ozbargain to make sure going forward users don't go through the same ordeal !!

I hope one of the moderators look into this request !!

I agree. I wish I could give this deal a negative vote but- "You have already voted on this deal. Your vote was subsequently revoked."

Why can't people who have previously given this deal a positive vote change it to negative?

This deal has been on the front page of ozbargain for ages even though 95% of the people who voted didn't receive anything.

  • Good news guys. Paypal just refunded the $25 membership fees. I had to open a paypal dispute to get my money back. The COOP ignored my requests initially so I opened the paypal dispute.

  • @The Co-op NG: I have received 1 of the two fitbits i have ordered. I have not received a refund or emails of cancellation. I have emailed them directly twice but no response. Can you help with this issue and are there others in the same boat?

  • +4

Had a poor experience with this deal. Absolutely no issues that the item was out of stock, however I never received a refund cancellation e-mail and was refused a refund for my membership. The membership was suggested in my checkout basket with a clearly outlined discount that I would receive for the deal. Like many others, on this basis I chose to sign-up, however the goods were not provided and therefore the value of the membership to me is nil.

I haven't and will not use the membership for anything else so I am simply requesting a refund for it. After 35 minutes on hold I was told there was nothing that could be done apart from a store-credit when I escalated to the manager. Still no use to me so I have disputed the transaction with my credit-card company.

This seems misleading and smells of bait & switch advertising. I didn't seek out the membership after all, it was suggested as something that could provide an immediate discount on my order. The order was cancelled and it should be reasonable to expect a refund for the membership.

If the disputed transaction doesn't work out I'll be taking it up with NSW Fair Trading and complaining to ACCC. Might seem like a small amount of money and it's certainly not worth my time, however there are some very dodgy practises here that deserve to be scrutinised.

I raised a Paypal dispute for the membership and Paypal granted me my refund as Co-op had not responded.

  • This has been the worst online retail experience I've had to date.

I ordered 4x fitbit flexes and received them on 13 March. The first one I opened and charged, had a faulty battery, and after a few days of trying the product and realising it was broken, I followed the online refund process - i.e. i emailed them using the online form on the Co Op website. I didn't get a reply for a few days and so tried to email a second time a few days later. I also tried to call them, but the phone line was down, and the automated message advised to email customer care.

I never received a response and so, nearly 2 weeks after my original email, I gave them another call on 27/03. Firstly, I was on hold for over 2 hours on the general line before speaking to anybody. After about one hour, the automated message said there were 8 people in front of me on the queue, and then I had to wait another hour - seriously, do they only have one person on the phone? Secondly, once I spoke to the person on the phone, he said that he would transfer my call to the store which shipped out my order, because "they have full discretion on whether to accept a refund". Once transferred, I found that he had not explained my situation at all, and so I had to explain the problem again. I was told to post the faulty item back to them, and after asking for them to first send me a return post package, was asked "You don't want to pay for shipping?". I was then put on to the phone with the manager, said she would send me the return envelope to save me $3 (a bit passive aggressive) in a few days because she wouldn’t have time to get to the post office before then, but once she did I would have to send it pretty much straight away. I asked if I could wait to see if another one of the fitbits (which I hadn’t opened was planning to give as a gift) was also faulty and then potentially return them together. She explained to me that after sending out over 80 fitbits, I was the only one who had called with a problem, so it was probably faulty and others shouldn’t have issues, but I could send on Monday (as my gift recipient would have all of Sunday to test the product…). I was also advised I must bubble wrap the faulty fitbit otherwise would not be issued with a refund.

I finally received the refund on 12 April, almost a month after the initial purchase. Today (13 April) I finally received a response to my original refund request made via the Co-Op bookshop online form:

"Hello! Refunds are at the store manager's discretion - the best way forward will be to drop into a store, with your book and your receipt, and this can be looked into there! Thank you for your patience with this one!"

This contradicts their website return policy (which says to contact via web form), and did not take into account that my order was online. Also I didn't purchase a book. The slow reply also means that I would not have been able to meet the 10 day timeline for refund. Horrible service.

    • I think you would have had a better outcome if you had contacted Fitbit (for a replacement). Coop has lost the plot by the sounds of it. Sorry for your terrible experience.
