A well made business laptop with 3 years warranty and Windows 10 Professional for less than $1000 is a bargain. This is a thinkpad. Not some consumer rubbish from JB hifi.

It's still a good price, kid.

        • This is a thinkpad.

          It still Lenovo ….

        • +2

There are plenty of Lenovos posted every week around here with better specs for under $1000. This is far from a great deal.

          @BTRaynes:

Those are crap consumer products or entry level E series products.
Specs might be better, but not reliability.

Businesses would rather a laptop that lasts many years as opposed to one made out of cheap plastic and cheap components.

        • +2

you're right it has to be well made so the user can look at the state of the art build quality instead of the awful 1366x768 Res screen whilst they wait for stuff to load on the HDD.

        • @dabell:

You'll find that many businesses use docking stations, external monitors and have their own hard disks they can install into the laptop. That's what we do with our thousands of business laptops.

        • @Jemz:

That's a different model. Less upgradeable. The T460 has an external battery, more rugged and can be upgraded with ease.

@sillysam: Nice, buying laptops to use as desktops. brilliant idea.

        • @dabell:

          That's why it's a business laptop.

          derp

It's pretty clear you don't work in a corporate environment.

        • @sillysam: so u would use the laptop screen then whiles on the go no?

        • @dabell:

Lower resolution screens offer better battery life. For example, this laptop is especially useful in places where the laptop remains stationary such as a laptop for a conference room.

Most companies would purchase ultrabooks for on the go use.

        • @sillysam: BUT BUT BUT HDD wastes battery tho no? SSD much better for battery life no?

        • @dabell:

HDD vs SSD effect on battery life is negligible. We're talking single digit watts.

    Seriously? HD screen in 2017…

    • -3

the definition of HIGH DEFINITION needs to be re-calibrated soon me thinks….

should be based of PPI instead of resolution.

      150+ = HD
      200+ = FHD
      300+ = UHD

  • If people think this is a bad deal perhaps you should listen to people who actually have a lot of uses for these laptops.

None of you clearly work in IT/Engineering or know how technology is implemented in enterprise.

While the price is good, it is not as good as the two outstanding deals that Scotty and TightArse brought us in the past. Basically people are using the two previous deals as a 'bang for buck' benchmark and therefore come to the conclusion: this is not a great bargain.

In hindsight, anyone (who knows about laptop hardware) nlooking for a durable business or university laptop would have not given a second thought and jumped on the $1000 T460s offer two months ago. It is now very unlikely that offer will come back though.

jumped on the $1000 T460s offer two months ago

Not a fan of the battery life. I prefer the Latitude E7470 or E7370 over the T460s.

You should look at the new Latitude E7480. It's pretty much the perfect laptop for my needs. The design is really nice too.
