EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 $704 Shipped @ Newegg

80

I'm aware of the other MSI GTX 1080 from Italy but this one is suitable for waterblocks as it is of a reference design.
$662 + $41.79 shipping brings the total to $703.79.

Pretty cheap for a GTX 1080, although waiting a little longer may see a drop on price.

    GTX 1080 Ti is better.
If you're not getting the best you may as well go for a 1060.

    • A 1080 is perfect for VR right now and while a 1060 may work right now, the extra 2gb of RAM will no doubt be utilised sooner rather than later. With the price drops now that the 1080ti's are coming to retailers, I reckon it'd be better to get a cheap 1080 instead of a 1070/1060 - unless of course you are extremely budget minded, which you'd be better served with an RX480 anyway.

The other thing to consider is a 1080 for $6-700 will last for a lot longer without needing a complete system upgrade, I am not a fan of upgrading a component or two at a time though. Especially with the relatively small benefit each generation brings these days.

I'd be happy to hear your reasons for buying a 1060/1070 over a 1080 though, I don't even know how much cheaper the 1070's are tbh. I'm not an expert, just trying to find better bargains instead of thinking that having the latest and greatest made my gaming/computing experience that much better, when it really didn't.

Oh, i get it. I'll stop feeding them now.

    • Why stop at 1060? I heard the 3DFX Voodoo can play games

    Eh standard blower…

    • standard blower, the msi deal from Italy is much better obviously, but if you plan to install a waterblock (like me), this is obviously a better deal.

      • Might as well just get a 1080TI if you're going down that route

including waterblock adds up to $850ish, the 1080Ti is 1.3k. Big difference.

  • You can buy the same card from amazon USA for about $680 +/- depending on your credit card rate. You can also buy the gtx 1080 FTW DT for about 10$ more than op's from amazon with a custom PCB and a full custom cooler (possibly their new new more efficient cooler design). Amazon and Newegg have the same prices but the deal is not killed by shipping on amazon.

    • not sure if i'm looking in the wrong place, but it actually adds up to $3 more on amazon: http://puu.sh/uFgdU/6459a879ad.png

      • If you use usd and Amex rates not the Amazon rates it comes in cheaper. Amazons exchange rate is always abit inflated.

  • EK make water blocks for non reference cards.

    • Yup, you're right but this is already one of the cheapest GTX 1080 cards available.
