Buro Metro Task Chair with Nylon Base Black $199.20 @ Staples eBay

570
CYBER

This is for the nylon base version without arms. Not sure if there's any difference compared to the metal base besides aesthetically.

  • are they good, I am aftering one with arm, cheers

    • +1

I had one and thought it was sh*t, gave me backaches, but YMMV.

    • -1

I have the aluminium base and arms.
I like the heavy base and resting your feet against the cold metal is a nice feeling.
It's a really comfortable chair, I've used it for upwards of 6-7hrs / day.
The mesh back can sometimes get a bit loose near the top after 1 year of use.
And alot of dust, like 4-5cm depth of dust can collect in the back mesh pocket.
The arm rests are quite far apart, which I find annoying - I wish they could angle in (eg 45 degrees) or reduce the inter-arm distance further.
      Overall 9/10. Good value.

  • +1

Can you buy the arms separately anywhere? Cheapest I can find the same chair with arms is $364 https://mybusiness.officemax.com.au/chair-office-mesh-back-a…

    • +11

I have emailed Buro for possibility of buying arms separately, will update here once I hear back.

      • any luck on the arms?

        • There is a different product code for the one with adjustable arms and that is 19031688. Unfortunately, this is especially bought and not available for website customers. You can only order it by calling their customer service team and placing your order using a generic credit card account.

Haven't had the chance to call as I have bad reception here so feel free to call Staples and let us know how much they go for

        • still no reply from Buro :(

Metro II is also at the same price.

    • +1

Well that leads to the question, which one is better ? The original or the II?

Is the Metro II improved or has it been "cost reduced" in manufacture to the point it doesn't work anymore?

    • +1

metro II CONNECT looks like a big step backwards, only has height adjustable lever, no lumbar etc adjustment. Also the back rest is shorter

edit - the Metro II with adjustable lumbar etc is $399 before discount

    • +2

This is the Metro II 'Connect' The base model for the Metro II series. Buro Metro Task (featured here) is a much better chair.

    bought one!

    • The bad concerns a man breathing so hard im surprised he didnt crush the entire chair under his girth. It's not a design flaw.

  • I would like to buy the buro metro with aluminimum legs but want the arms !

    • My arms are in storage which i never used. Would sell.

      • are u in perth?

        • Dang not even close.

        • Willing to post to Melbourne?

        • @vvti85: Only just saw this. Sure i would sell/post to Melbourne, however they are fairly heavy - pure steel - and the postage/courier may be pricey.. Thoughts?

  • +4

Brought one last time, good chair. The material can be a bit rough on your back if you sit in it with no shirt on though.

  • +1

Bought one last time too for the home office. Going to buy another one for work office.

  • +2

Just bought one, my first "proper" chair ever.

From what I read there is no difference in quality between the nylon and aluminium one apart from the look and price of course.

Tried them both down at Staples and it's far superior to my terrible $100 chair I bought previously.

  • +1

Great chair… bought on a previous sale and it's very comfortable. I took the arms off so I reckon you can get by without them on this model anyway.

  • +1

I have the Metro with metal base and let me tell you, accidentally running into the back of your bare foot is painful! Took weeks for it to heal!

I also don't use the arms; wonder where I can sell them?

    It's a great chair BTW!

    • where are you located? if you're in perth i'm willing to buy them! :)

      • Sorry I'm in Sydney

  • Not sure when I can try this out in Sydney before buying. Any issues returning this to Staples for change of mind? Bit confused between the return terms on their site vs ebay which makes no mention of restocking fees..

    • Office works has the version with arms in stock when I bought mine.
You can also possibly get a price beat too

      • +1

officeworks don't sell this chair anymore

        • Wow, duly noted.
This is from when it was stocked at Officeworks and on ozbargain
When I first saw this chair, I thought to myself who would spend 300+ on a chair!
Now you can have it for less than $250!
The 4 chairs I bought previously from OW (around $100 each) only lasted a couple of years then it starts to break and become uncomfortable.
There is also a whirlpool discussion page.

          My own review:
Money well spent. It's very comfortable and my back would thank me later :)

  • Good if you're big, uncomfy if you are small

    • +1

I'm small and I find it very comfy; it's big enough to meditate on. However, I have the aluminium version with the arms (which I find useless for me since they're too far apart).

      • I do find the arms a bit far apart as well.

  • I just bought a similar one but heavy duty and rated to 160 kgs for the quality. So far so good. https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/profession…

10% off with eBay code C10AU which is still working.

    • Hi Joey, I don't see that one in Officeworks eBay store, have you bought from eBay or store, cheers.

      • Yeah I struggled to find as well but eventually found it buy doing the right google search.

  • Just gnna piggyback on this post and say I have the Buro Metro aluminium and looking to sell if anyones interested.
Its not a bad chair for someone probably about 6ft+. My legs are short so I feel the chair is too deep for me.
    Please PM if interested

    • perth?

      • nah sydney

        • How much? With arms?

        • @mabovb: No Arms. also your location says Melbourne. Are you actually there cause postage is too expensive.

Price is $190 ($50 off current deal), can dropoff if near 2193 or 2200 or somewhere in between

  • I bought 3x more aluminium based ones. Thanks OP.

  • Thanks OP, purchased.

  • +1

I bought an aluminium based with arms from staples about 1 year ago, recently purchased a nylon based version without arms and there is a big difference in the cushion foam they used. The foam in the nylon based version is softer, it collapses easier and is simply not as good to sit on as the other.

    • do you have photos? :O

      • how do you take photos of the internal foam without ripping into the chair?

  • +1

If only this had a mesh seat as well as the mesh back!

I have an Aeron chair in my home office, and the mesh seat makes it really cool in the Brissy summer.

I'm looking for a cheaper version to use in my music studio - the mesh seat is great in summer when I'm playing guitar for 3 or 4 hours.

Does anyone know of a chair with mesh back and seat in this price range, or maybe slightly higher?

  • How do you think of Shape Professional Chair, compare with this one ?

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Shape-Professional-Chair-Blue-/23…

    cheers

  • I have one with the arms at work. I removed the arms as they were useless (too far apart) and were preventing the chair from going under the desk.

  • The least OZbargain thing I ever did was get a expensive chair…
    http://www.hermanmiller.com.au/products/seating/performance-…
But the exchange rate was a little better than it is now

It's one of the two things I don't mind spending a little more on as I sit at a desk all day

  • +1

not worth the hype. I bought 2 (both the same with arms) last year following an OzBargain deal. One is extremely uncomfortable, no matter the configuration. The other is… average. The back cannot be adjusted upright enough, so it's always tilting back.
After using this one daily (the average one, not the extremely uncomfortable one) for about a 9 months, the back support mesh material has stretched just slightly enough for my spine to rub against the hard plastic behind it.
I'm 188cm and 81kg. Can't figure out why these are so popular with people here… I would never buy this brand again.

  • I bought one in December.

I find the base a bit too big for me (174ish cm), it's quite wide which is fine, but the depth is too much for my legs to have a gap between the back of my knee and the base.

Considering selling it to someone who it'll suit better, as I'm not sure I can keep it with how deep the base is. I'm in Brisbane.

  • armsssss

  • If anyone in Sydney wants an unused arm set PM me.

  • I'd like to try before I buy. The Mascot staples is apparently just a warehouse and you can't visit it.

Is there any where in Sydney I can compare the chair? (Grammar reduces the value of the rhyme).
