[Price Error] Hisense 75" UHD LED TV - 75M7000UWD $2295 @ Harvey Norman (Saturday/Sunday)

Moved to Forum: Original Link

Currently showing as $2995 online, but the ad on Fox Sports showing during the India/Australia Test cricket says says it is $2295 this weekend!

Ouch paid way too much for this less than a month ago.

Good TV

Mod: As per the Harvey Norman rep, the actual deal is for the 70" not the 75". Moved to forums.

    No credit card insurance?

    • +1

what do you mean buy this?

      • +2

        Price Protection

        https://www.28degreescard.com.au/credit-card-features/

Price Protection means never having to miss out on the sales again. If you buy something with your 28 Degrees Platinum MasterCard and you see its dropped in price at the same retailer anytime in the first 6 months after you bought it, we’ll pay the difference in price back onto your card. So the more you claim the more you can save.

        • oh i have never heard of 28 Degrees, thank you for the link & info :)

        • +4

          @db2k:

          You new kid here? Welcome

        • +6

@db2k: next thing you'll be saying you don't know what eneloops are!

        • @Steptoe:
Relatively? I have always used cards for Velocity points … I have been OK in paying 3.3% for transaction fees etc, as the return on Velocity has been more useful for flights etc

          @misterpotatomato:
I actually didn't know what they were, until i saw the pic and then realised they're the best batteries =)

        • +2

          @db2k:

Coles mastercard has a 2 yr price protection insurance as opposed to 28 degrees 6 months.

        • @cheesecactus: what's the requirements and cost to get this? Sorry for the necro comment/post

        • @AlienC:

All good. Income requirement is $25,000 and its free. No costs for the credit card.

The 'Account cover plus' feature (price protection and other stuff) costs 1% of your closing balance but ive never paid that fee because…. just pay your balance off before your statement is issued. 1% of $0 is $0 :)

i would probably prefer this over a theatre projector to be completely frank

    • This is the decision I'm torn on! This price doesn't help the cause.

I've got a dedicated theatre room. But can't decide between an entry level FHD Benq + 100" screen or a 75" UHD TV.

      • +4

I was a passionate Plasma TV lover for many years, I now own a Samsung 65 4k SUHD HDR TV,
I have to say when watching some Netflix the other nite that the DETAIL was incredible and it was an unscaled 1080P source (The Matrix)
I really feel the LED lighting brings out the detail which I cant imagine a Projector doing.
I always remember them as a bit DULL especially round the edges even the Runco projectors which were always well regarded. I personally now would go for a decent Led TV and the Hisence 7 series does seem to impress a lot of users out there. Plus watching some 4k and 4k HDR movies I have to say that movies like John Wick and Lucy and Star Trek beyond look incredible.

Anyway good luck with your decision

      • +3

Projector.. Price wise it's a lot cheaper (@ FHD) compared to a 75"+ TV.
I'm still loving my 110" screen and Epson FHD projector. For sheer size on movie night in a darkened theatre room it's fantastic.
This TV looks awesome though, and at the price is tempting.
I remember paying $2500 for my 50" Pana 720p plasma that we're still using..
Currently looking at replacing it with one of these Hisense UHD's, but probably the 65" version. Also, the update should be out in the next month or 2…

        • I use the theatre room daily. so a tv makes a bit more sense with that.

But def more value per inch with a projector. Hence my trouble deciding.

        • +1

          @ssjmark:

I thought it was a tough call.. until i got a very cheap benq setup with 120" screen… it changes the experience completely, really makes the room like a cinema. Never ever think about how deep blacks could be with an oled etc. Have a 50" plasma for daily tv

    • +1

I have both (a home theatre room plus the above mentioned 75 inch).

I personally use the home theatre (120 inch screen + Optoma/Benq FHD projectors) for my watching… eg. Sports or movies/tv shows.

And the Hisense is used by the kids or parents when watching kids shows or news.

Yes the Hisense has better brightness and colors overall but it depends on where you'll be viewing it. If you have a darkened area where you're not so concerned with brightness then protectors is the go. If you have light and need something with instant on/off etc then probably tv.

You really don't worry about brightness or black levels in a darkened room with a good projector (mine, optoma hd25-lv,only cost around 1300 on Amazon).

Good luck but projectors wins it for me. In saying that this is an excellent tv and I got it for ~$130 more dagnammit!

  • JB or GoodGuys will probably undercut this by $2

    • HN undercut JB a few weeks back when it dropped to 2500

  • +1

Called the local store and the guy had no idea, hope this is happening as i will have a new TV on Saturday :D

  • +4

Guys, I bought the 55 inch version and I gotta tell ya, the picture is as good as the publicity the 7000 is getting. A little bit of tweaking with the picture settings and it has blown us away. The sound is OK, but would need a sound bar or something to boost, numerous connection points, plays all sorts of files direct from USB and the Netflix button is simple but great. I am so pleased with the 55 inch but at this money, would have jumped in with both feet for the 75 inch.

      • +12

        Me.

        • -3

Wow TIL people enjoy shitty sound

      • Someone who would want a great picture but tosh sound? I have hooked up with a cheap Philips sound bar and sub and its cracking tbf

      • Myself and most of people I know.

        • +2

Not trolling. Are you serious most people you know use TV speakers?

        • +9

          @Xastros:
Most people use the standard Ringtone

        • @Steptoe:

I actually use a standard ringtone haha but I have 3 TVs in the house and all of them have separate sound systems attached.

I honestly can't think of a single person I know who uses TV speakers. Even my parents and parents in law (my father in law is 80 years old) use separate sound systems on their TVs and no i didn't install it for them. Whereas cyber9uy is saying most of the people he knows just use TV speakers.

I guess birds of a feather really do flock together.

        • @Xastros: Not trolling, and yes, we use TV speakers, as do most people we know. We rarely watch movies on our TV (other than movies for the kids), so generally the sound source is fairly average, and either way we're not audiophiles anyway and generally don't care if it doesn't sound great.

        • @Xastros:

Who uses a sound system while everybody is asleep? I'm assuming that's you? Lol

        • @CarbonTwelve: Good to know. Easy to get caught living in our own little bubble with like minded people and forget that there are very different people out there.

I'm not an audiophile but I do like some good/loud bass with my action movies and I find TV speakers never deliver this.

        • +1

@jayzorz: Nah when people are asleep I'm mainly on my PC with headphones. Or I'm asleep myself.

      • +2

I completely agree, how can you pay this much for a TV and have shit sound. I'd so much rather a worse TV and a good audio setup than to use the input speakers….

    • Can you link me to picture settings?

    • Can you tell me how in the best terms that you can the picture quality would differ from a Kogan branded one?

Like will it be dimmer have more contrasting lesser nits or have more pixels or just looked more washed out or not as deeper blacks or poorer edge lighting back lighting or what what is the biggest differentiator between the cheap $400 Kogans and this.

Cheaper panel? Lesser inputs? Higher lag or input latency? Slower menu or channel changing?

With a huge premium over the "budget" brands I still haven't found a good solid answer from this besides oleds have deeper blacks which isn't even one of these.

      • Kogan doesn't have 75" UHD TV for $400!!!! Actually there aren't many (or any) decent quality 75" selling at $2249. This TV has a decent review for good picture quality compared to other 75" TVs. At this price, I completely disagree that we are paying a huge premium over a budget brand TV.

        • +1

Could you summarise in a few simple short points how a dirt cheap budget tv differentiates from a high end premium tv in picture quality? Or more if possible

Example build quality/operating system/smart tv ui responsiveness and layout/input lag or channel changing lag/etc

Aside from the obvious doesn't maybe reach the same contrast levels and edge lit vs back lit vs local dimming etc what else is there to know between quality picture levels

Like does it have more washed out features? Are side tv's more sharper and crisper than others.. Like I know olds have deeper blacks and some tv's have better viewing angles but aside from all that is there anything else?

        • +2

          @AlienC:
You've thoroughly answered your own question there.

        • @BTRaynes: alas.. so there is no more for me too be found ? :(

I was hoping for some Pandora's box level insight or answer to unveil or to come haha lol tsk tsk such is life woe is to me :(

    • How is the Recorder?
Thinking of scrapping Foxtel but find the Recorder on the iQ2 pretty handy. Don't really want a separate device if avoidable. ..

  • +1

At Good Guys, they have a thing called "price guarantee" that will refund you the difference if the price drops in a month time. Go ask at HN if they have something similar. I did it at JBhifi, I went and nicely asked the manager (he didn't have to do it) and I got refunded about $150 on my 50" Hisense series 7 … may worth the shot

      • It's actually 14 days as per what the man told me in the shop. I got refund last Price drop after 9 days.

      • That's a different sort of price match, isn't it?

    • Alternatively, if you credit card has price protection insurance, you can claim the difference for up to 6 months after purchase.

      • +1

…or both if you play it right lol

        • I like your thinking :) Hopefully the CC provider doesn't notice the refund tho hehe

        • @Vladdo:
If it doesn't go back on that card….

        • most cc policies require a printed catalogue.

        • +1

          @muzzamo:
Has not been my experience with 28 Degrees

        • I've just checked with citibank and that's what they require - printed catalog.

        • Absolutely. Then return the TV for a full refund!

        • @Boshait:
Then haggle to buy the used TV…

  • Been eyeing this one as well, excuse my ignorance but will there be a new model year coming soon (like cars)?
Also to those who own one, can I get the dimensions of the feet? If only they did the stand like Samsung..

    • +1

The feet are almost at the end of each side.

    • New models already announced and probably not far away. The reviews on this TV are really good though. You can wait for the new model and pay a lot more. I guess that it comes down to a price/value of any new features. I can't see them being worth what will probably amount to well in excess of $1000 or probably $2000 seeing as this model originally RRP'd for $5000 when it was released this time last year. I don't know a lot about the differences between this model and last years model but seriously, its a 75 inch TV! That's the first thing you're gonna notice. A 5%-10% increase in picture quality is not something many people are going to see.

      Anyway, here's are new models.

      https://www.google.com.au/amp/www.digitaltrends.com/home-the…

  • Can someone please explain UHD vs 4K? It was my understanding that UHD was like 3K, why would someone spend so much when 4K is out there?
    Please help :)

  • To those contemplating on purchasing.
My opinion: picture quality is great, needs some tweaking though
Sound is ok (soundbar is much better)
UI is slow and crap, inbuilt YouTube keeps freezing, so use a Chromecast instead.

    • Netflix app is amazing though but definately get a Chromecast Ultra!

  • This Saturday will be exactly 3 weeks since I bought this TV from JB for $2600.

  • have the 70 inch model. Highly recommended

    • Is it on offer as well this weekend?

    • Can you tell your fellow Ozb'ers what SD content looks like on it?
I've heard it's rather average.. Went ot JB Hifi today and they just keep showing the wanky UHD demos, but I want to know what crappy Oz TV looks like. (Most content I watch is online or disc based, but for the few local shows I watch, it'd be handy to know). Cheers!

      • SDs are average. Not crappy but not as good as watching on a 42" TV. But TV HDs are quite good.

      • Not too bad to be honest. I'm perfectly happy with sd content on this tv but I try and watch Min HD if possible… In store it looks a lot worse then at home.

HD channels are fantastic though…. Very sharp… Full HD and 4k are just awesome

        • Cheers folks

  • Buy this… or wait til new models come out and these old ones are discounted even more?

Will they even be discounted any further…?

    • +2

your credit card insurance has that covered. They'll be sold out in 6 months.

      • Should've been more specific.
I won't need it for a couple of months.

So wondering if I should chance waiting a few months for it to go down even more.

The credit card insurance only lasts 21 days unfortunately.

        • You can get a better C/C in less than a couple of months.

        • @Steptoe:
          Yeah nah.

  • This might be a stupid question but I can't seem to find the VESA size on this for wall mounting?

  • -1

It's $2295 not $2249 - ads are running in the NRL coverage on Fox Sports too…

    • -1

Poorman's TV Ad has the 70" at $2295 until Monday

      • Got a neg for the truth. Ouch.

  • May I ask for an opinion from those who got a 75" TV? My living room is 4.5m x 6m, and when I try to imagine such huge TV in it, it freaks me out - seems like it'll be way too dominating. Viewing distance: 5.5m, mostly freeview (SD/HD) and BD movies. WDYT?

    • +2

My room is almost the same size and 55inch is honestly big enough which I have. I'd go max 65" or else you'll be crosseyed in a few weeks with that 75" 😁

    • My room is slightly bigger and I enjoy the size.
      You do not get crosseyed…

      • 75 inch would be great for that room.

  • +2

Just FYI this 75" has edge lighting rather than FALD I believe. Not saying it's a bad TV. Just making sure everyone is aware this is not the same product as the smaller sizes.

Personally I would sacrifice the extra 5" and get the 70" to have FALD instead of edge lighting.

    • Incorrect This has FALD
65 has edge lighting. Have a read here

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/293756

      • +1

My mistake. Thanks for the info

        • No prob. I have this tv (if it's the 75) conflicting information below. But for the money it's fantastic value. Blacks are particularly great compared to my Sony 70 inch that I upgraded from.

  • 3m distance from my couch to the wall. Too big or is there no such thing?

    • Too big.. I'm 4.5m away from my 55" Hisense and it's hurting my eyes..

      • It's hurting your eyes because you'd have to squint at a TV that small from 4.5M

    • +3

No such thing as too big.

      • +1

        that's what she said

    • No TV can ever be too big😁

    • If it fits in the room its not too big. You will get used to it pretty quickly.

    • +5

At ozbargains, there is no such thing as too big TV or too many eneloops…if it really is too big, just use picture in picture to make it smaller

      • Picture in picture LOL

        • I hate how they removed the PIP capability on new TV's.

I honestly hope that Foxtel one day apply this to their devices. Watch one channel & have a smaller version of another channel in PIP (like boring cricket or kardashians). Do it Foxtel, do it!
