Choosing between Kia Cerato $19,990 or Honda Civic VTI $23,000. Can't Afford Anything More

Hi everyone need advice on buying a new car.

Kia Cerato base model with Av pack or new Honda Civic Vti.

Please help compare pros and cons. Anyone who owns these cars your advice would help a lot as well.

Also, I have got a quote for Kia with Av pack $20,500 and for Honda $23,000 driveaway with mats and full tank of fuel with both.

How is the maintenance compared for these 2 cars as well?

Has anyone bought these cars and had better deals?

Thanks heaps in advance to all.

    • I like hyundai and i was going for i30 but need a bit bigger space. They r good cars.

  • I Bought the AV Pack Kia Cerato in July 2016, and really cannot fault it. Good quality small car, plus a 7 year Factory Warranty, what's not to like :)

    • I like the Kia too but just liking Honda a bit more but definitely Kia seems a bargain. BTW how much did u pay for it?

  • I have a Kia Cerato S (I think the S is the next model up with Reverse Camera and Touch screen LCD CD player etc)
Previously owned a Suburu Impreza New and would never get one of them again..
I love my car and would get one again, The only issue I had was the Stereo stopped working but took it in and got it replaced in a few days..
I got mine for 24.5k and got 18" mags and all windows tinted as I have a good mate working for Kia..
I get mine serviced not thru Kia and it's around $150.

Get a Kia mate. You'll pay through the nose of Honda parts and service.

  • I'm also thinking about getting a Kia S AV. They just seem like value for money. It should be the Ozbargain branded car i reckon.

Just curious what price everyone got for their Cerato S AV?

I'm trying to negotiate a price this weekend. A lot of dealers are saying their negotiated price includes the $777 gift card.. but i spoke to Kia customer service today, and they told me that $777 actually comes off the negotiated price. Be careful when negotiating guys! I'd love to know if anyone has got a bargain yet! Best I've seen is $18,500 from someone on Whirlpool forums who got a white auto Certao S AV.

Hi everyone, thank you all for the suggestions and advice. Although Kia is definitely a bargain but I had to go with what my heart said and I bought a Honda.

I want to thank you all to jump in and help and that shows that ozbargain community is really close.

    Thanks heaps again.

Cant wait to drive my new car soon.

Good to hear. Did you get a good price?

Reading through this thread confirmed for me that i really wanted the Cerato. I just went out and bought a brand new Kia Cerato S AV for $17,723 drive-away with metallic paint, mats, full tank of fuel and black and white plates. Quite happy with myself! :-)

      • Thats an excellent price. Where did u get it from. I couldn't get any price lower than 19.5k when i looked for kia cerato…

        • Well i actually saw that someone on whirlpool forums managed to get it for $18500 (prior to the $777 promotion).. but they told me they were quoted $18400 from a different dealership.. but he wasn't very comfortable with their payment processes. So i based my pricing off the $18400 + the $777 gift card on top.. but the best they would do for me was $18500 with the $777 gift card.. so they threw in mats.

I also called up kia customer service the other day to ask if the $777 promotion was meant to actually be on top of the negotiated price.. a lot of dealers are giving you a negotiated price, then saying it's included within that price. So you need to make sure, they are further taking $777 off as Kia actually pay the dealership back.

Kia customer service also hinted to negotiate with the bigger dealerships as they will have bigger discounting.

        • @kimba88:

Thanks for sharing. I am leaning towards a S with AV pack. Can I ask which Dealership you went to?

Congratulations! I just came back to this thread to see how you were doing. From this point forth, don't look back, and don't worry about you could have paid for a cheaper car etc. My Honda has had only one minor recall (replaced a door window power switch) in it's 10+ years of life, zero electrical, engine, A/C, brake and transmission faults.

My only regret was not replacing the horn with a louder unit earlier as the stock horn was too soft. Small cars in Sydney are a magnet for getting bumped. Do check your horn when your car is delivered to make sure it is loud enough. Enjoy your new ride!

I suggest you get Honda Civic Vti.

Hi all, thank you all again for your suggestions and advice.

I got my new Honda Civic and I am enjoying it every minute.

    Thanks heaps.

    • Congratulation, where did you get the deal for civic?

    • Congrats and great to hear that you're loving it!

Which model and colour did you go with?

      • Just the Vti and lunar silver colour. I love it.

Yeah the silver looks pretty good. A friend of mine brought a white one - nice car to drive.

        • Hey Binny, can i ask what price you negotiated?

        • 23.4k including windows tint.
