(VIC) Roadside Assitance (Resolved). Thanks

Hi Guys

I have a 7 year old Toyota Corolla and it's in pretty good condition. I just got a flat battery and was wondering what the best road side assistance is:

RACV
$86 + ($46 joining)

Mondial
1yr $99 2yr $188

Toyota Extra Care
???

I don't have to use the car straight away so I can look around for a bargain. Are there any offers going at the moment?

I was leaning towards RACV to join, then wait and get the call out.

  • Not sure about the others, but I think RACV allows you to tap on NSW's NRMA (Vic version of RACV) for assistance if you happen to travel to NSW… so you might want to compare features like that too?

As for flat battery, probably you could get one of those small mobile car service companies to help?

  • Cool, yeah here is my battery research so far:

RACV $157, 3yr warranty, RACV brand

Marshall $175, 2yr warranty, Marshal brand

Waiting on lube mobile but seems RACV has it.

  • Jump start = free ;D

RACV also don't charge the joining fee on higher level cover so it's only $7 more to get the extra care: "Normal establishment fee of $46 is waived for current and new members joining Extra Care."

  • You could look for a friend who has total care from RACV.

RACV covers total care member on any car or any driver basis.

It means if the member was driving a car, that car is covered. Or the member's nominated car is driven by another driver, that driver will also be covered whilst driving member's nominated car.

This way you could have your car attended to through a friend's membership, whilst you decide on the roadside assistance provider.

  • Davo, try this place for a battery. I recently bought a replacement (seconds) battery for my Honda retail value $150, changeover with 2 year warranty $65. You get $10 for your old battery. On Hume Hwy Campbellfield.

    • Wow that's great value! Will have to write that down in my car manual for next time. Thanks everyone, I went with the RACV in the end as I could get a 3 yr warranty!
