So…why is this so expensive? This is a sub $1K laptop at most.

    • Hm, good point. I expect it's because being a 'business laptop' they charge more for build/security features/etc., and if you include the extras in the price (perhaps sell them if you won't use them) that brings the price down to roughly 1k… I agree it's not a standout but I thought some might be interested.

It's a Latitude- Dell business range. Much better build quality / more sturdy compared to the consumer lines, typically last a lot longer. Able to get spare parts / docks etc for them years after release.

I've been managing fleets of these for years.

Yes, in terms of raw specs you can get more for your money elsewhere. But for most people I'd still recommend a Latitude if you are after a good solid laptop. Never pay RRP for them though!

      • Or just hunt the Outlet. I got a E7470 (6300u, 8gb, 500gb SSD, 1080p) for 950 at the start of the year

        • 'Or just hunt the outlet'

Huh? You make it sound like I said "Go and buy a Latitude from shop X"

Buying from the outlet is a great idea, and is not mutually exclusive from what I DID say "never pay RRP for them"
