still.. you reserved it at that price? have you checked DSE's website… it's now $89.95

i was just saying that its not in stock at the moment and that isn't specified in the post. general rule of thumb. Those negs were totally not neccesary. I wasn't whining about anything i wasn't insulting anyone it was a simple copy and paste from the website of the bargain providing further information. This website to me seems like it's run by 15 year olds.

I’d say your negative on this post wasn't necessary either.

          • @silo: i gave it a negative vote because it suggests that the purchase can be made now to receive the product now, which is in fact incorrect. That is also a valid reason to give a negative vote. the same would go for any deal thats posted.

            • @mgexiled: Done, post edited to include notice about game being on pre-order.

Revoking negative vote as per guidelines, since post has been corrected.

              • @pauly: Thankyou for that. I'm not one to come onto boards and cause trouble I was surprised about this reaction did not expect it at all.

  • It'd be slightly quicker to get it from game.co.uk or gamestation.co.uk for about the same price :P

But that may cause online gaming server issues, I'm not sure.

Apparently UK copies are restricted to UK servers, so you can't play against people locally.

      • +2

Yes, you can save money by buying from UK sites, and get it for as low as $50 AUD.

On the downside UK copies are restricted to European servers. It's printed the back of the box (European servers ony).
So if you tried to play on Battlenet you will be connected to European players, not Australia/Asian clients or hosts.

From what I was told on the whirlpool forums, you can probably expect 300~500 ping when playing on foreign servers. I don't recommend getting the UK version unless you only want to play the singleplayer component of the game.

  • +1

there's currently 3 servers for sc2, sea which is south east asia, america and europe.
sea is the servers australians use, so you'd either have to get it from an asian site or find one online that sells the 'sea' version.

  • So, this copy is UK version or International version?
Sorry if my question is silly.

    • +2

This is the SEA (South East Asia) version.

SEA = Asia, Australia, New Zealand.

JBHIFI and Dick Smith only stock the SEA version.

But be careful when buying from elsewhere, for example CDWow.com.au, despite having an .au domain they sell imported games, not Australian copies.

"I managed to get FREE shipping when paying by PayPal."

That's because PayPal have free shipping when you spend at least $50 till 05/09/10

  • I'd rather wait for the fanfare to settle.

keep in mind Call of Duty Modern Warfare is still $85! and that game was released last year…

  • Great price.

  • their stock comes a bit later than DSE but i guess now it's the best deal. unless you can get EB to price match then you don't have to wait

  • I Got Harvey Norman to price match DSE (even when DSE had no stock) with no problems.

  • Please note: the supplier is out of stock of this game: more stock is expected to arrive from Thursday 26th August - please reserve your copy now at this low price

i got -11 negs for posting that.
this negging is out of control. mods anywhere?

      • You got 11 negative votes for voting negative for the deal. People can get it for that price, it's just similar to if you are pre-ordering. The fact is that people who pay for it will get it.

blahblah2270 probably won't get any neg votes as he didn't neg the deal at the same time.

        • see my above comment. my reason for giving a negative vote was because the article suggests the item can be purchased and recieved now as apposed to being a pre-order. Just because it's starcraft 2 shouldn't be different to any other deal posted here. my reasons for giving a negative vote are valid. the negative votes on me are just from trolls - which just goes to show what most of the people on this website are.

          • @mgexiled: Well to be fair, your first post was simply a cut and paste from the JB site, and your second was insulting the community here. I think if you had stated in your first post (rather than copying and pasting) why you were voting negative (by the guidelines) you would not have gotten neg'd (hopefully).

As it is, I didn't neg any of your comments and I do agree that the option to neg comments needs to be rethought a little, something like when vosting on deals, you can't vote neg till you comment on the post (or in this case comment).

For example, see my comment above about the region restrictions, and you'll see one person has negged it. Why? I do not know.

            • @tomsco: yeah i could've added a brief description of my reasoning, although I thought that a quote from the actual site of the bargain would be strong enough for people to agree with. I just thought it was self explanatory. I wouldn't of insulted the community had the community not have neg'd me like 15 times. regardless, I'll keep that in mind for next time. I do agree the neg system needs to be thought out a little.

  • is SC2 really good?

i spent hours upon hour on SC1 and i really wanna know

    • Download it, then get someone you know and have them give you a guest pass.

Every copy of SC2 comes with 2 guest passes.

If you cant' find anyone to give you a guest pass you can also buy it from G2Play for $3.50.
      http://www.g2play.net/store/Starcraft-2-EU-Guest-Pass.html
You will get 7 hours of game time or 14 days expiry, whichever comes first.

    • Yes it's that good

      • bnet 2 is a shame… if you enjoyed bnet 1 from sc, to wc to diablo, cherish those sweet memories because you will be very disappointed.
