[PRICE ERROR/SEE NOTE] LG Energy 50% off Solar/Battery Packages - E.g. 3kw System with The 6.5kw L.g Battery

Moved to Forum: Original Link

First post so forgive any stupid errors.

I've been looking for a solar system so put my name out on solar choice only to get calls from what felt like every solar sales person in the country. Some amazing deals out there for solar only but I ended deciding to go for a battery system from LG just because I like technology and seems to be about the best deal around. Not to say battery systems will be 1/2 this price again by the end of the year. I've estimated for me the payback will be about 4 years to cost neutral.

Prices quoted are before government rebate - e.g..

Package 3: 3kw system with the 6.5kw L.G Battery priced at $7,999 comes in at $5,795.00 on the sale price after rebate fully installed, saving 50% off the normal RRP. (Estimated annual saving $1500 - although I think a bit generous). They told me package 4 comes in at about $6500 after rebate (bigger system means bigger rebate). Incorrect pricing.

Also worth noting I live in Sydney so not sure if prices differ between states. Also I think this deal ends this week and they assure me then prices will go back to full.

Mod:

  • Incorrect Pricing. The OP or the salesman quoted the wrong price. The price is $7,999 AFTER the rebate thus this has been moved to the forums as it is a price error.

  • According to the rep, they are not affiliated directly with LG Group or LG Electronics. They are only a reseller of their products and are not an authorised dealer with their business by choice.

  • 127 Creek St is Regus service office but all of their staff are based in different locations across Australia due to the nature of the products it requires Face to Face sales.

    Thanks for your first post…
    Welcome to Ozbargain…
    😄

  • Some food for thought… Solar feed in tariffs will almost double from the current rate hitting 11 cents per kwh on 1st July 2017 for Victorians.

The website looks dodgy to me. I dont think LG would allow a reseller to call them self "LG"

    • +1

But what i do not understand is that it refers me to my local installers… not sure why?
Try to dealer postcode search… will call my local installer tomorrow ti find out further information about this company…

  • +1

The domain was registered on 15/02/2017: https://who.is/whois/lgenergyaustralia.com

  • Why is it that every time I try to go to the website it asks me if I want to download a file….nm doesn't happen anymore.

  • Misleading

@mods, please do not delete this post… it will hopefully help someone make an informed decision.

    • +5

      Wow. Why downvote me?

    • -4

I'll admit that I did downvote you because this is quite clearly a scam.

I might not understand what you mean, however. What do you mean by making an informed decision?

      • +4

People searching for info on this company will find this thread raising concerns about their legitimacy, helping them make an informed decision.

        • +1

          Exactly.

  • I heard they want full payment and we get the rebate from the government ourselves…

  • +1

Going to neg this deal for the same reasons as everyone else hope no one gets scammed

  • Looks like a scam that domain name was only registered on the 15/2/2017 and the domain site used to register is Namecheap.it also looks like LG use a series of other companies who supply and install their products but don't appear to install the products themselves. The actual LG site is www.lgenergy.com.au

100% Mod: Alledged scam confirmed with LG CHEM here in Australia. LG are trying to get the site shut down

  • I'm very concerned that this is a scam.

I'll follow the conversation here and if nobody else has called LG Australia by tomorrow afternoon, I'll give them a call myself and report back here.

This deal post should probably be moved to the forum until LG legitimately confirms it.

  • Please note we are currently investigating this deal and will be in contact with LG. Please do not post private information.

If you have any further information please pass it along via the Talk with a Moderator Forum.

    6.5 x 0.23 x 365 = $545

4 year payback is completely unrealistic.

    Welcome to OzDetectives.

There really is no need to talk to LG.

Common sense should tell you this is blatantly Mod: allegedly a scam.

    • If you call the 1800 number, it will go to voicemail. There's no option menu or anything.
    • The website is of such poor quality. Formatting is all wrong and they don't even use the proper LG logo.
    • 127 Creek St is empty office space according to Google.

And lastly, if affiliated with or LG they'd use a .com.au website which doesn't grant them whois protection.

People need to be more vigilant.

Mod: 127 Creek St is a Regus Serviced Office.

so i called the number and a lady picked up asking how she may direct my call. u prob called outside of the working hours.

      • Ah, so it's more sophisticated than your run-of-the-mill email scammer.

        Worrying.

UPDATE. I received just this PM from actual LG through their Facebook.

It has come to LG Electronics attention that a company calling itself LG Energy Solutions with the website www.lgenergyaustralia.com has recently appeared on the internet offering LG branded solar panels and battery solutions. Please be advised that LG Electronics Australia has no affiliation or association with the company LG Energy Solutions and that they are not an authorised LG partner.
    Blake / LG Australia

    • Batteries are made by LG Chem, not by LG Electronics. They are two different companies under the one group.

I contacted LG Australia yesterday on twitter and their reply this morning is … Be advised we have no affiliation or association with the company LG Energy Solutions ( LGenergyaustralia.com) and they aren't an authorised LG partner.

Stinks of a scam, right now regretting post somewhat but also glad as smarter people than me have highlighted potential scam. At best its misleading advertising.

Glad I've not paid. I'm emailing the sales guy there and will post his (if any) response.

      • Live and learn :)

      • +1

But it's great you found out before you paid, isn't it.

        • +1

Yeah, not so sure about user roadwreck, I wonder if they paid?

        • @thegrinch:

I would have guessed that he was mistaken and was using lgenergy (LG) not this mob.

      • Don't you want to earn $5k a week??!!!

        • Apparently it is an "easy sell" too. Pffffft

  • Update from Rep:

I contacted LG (not LG Energy Australia) but have not heard back. In any case, that's an issue between LG & LG.

The OP is definitely not wrong, here is a copy and paste from the salesperson

"Yes you can rely on the battery to power the house in the event of a black out, you can actually go completely off grid with this system, the 3kw system with the 6.5kw L.G Battery comes in at $5,795.00 on the sale prices after rebate fully installed, saving 50% off the normal RRP.

The system will pay for itself within a couple of Years just based on what your paying in power at the moment so there's never any risk involved in Solar you get your money back tenfold.

There's a 12 Year full replacement warranty on the panels & a further 25 Year warranty on system performance, The battery comes with a 10 Year full replacement warranty, the entire system has a 25 - 30 Year lifespan.

The government rebate is guaranteed & gets credited into your nominated bank account within 14 Days of installation.

Stock is going fast so i would recommend getting your order form back quickly to secure these prices."

      No ambiguity there.

      • +2

Yes also look at their brochure thru the link.

        It clearly states

LG energy solutions 50% off sale packages

now is it really that compared to other providers - that will be interesting.

BTW thanks to the others alerting us to the possible scamming/cheating from this supplier

  • I have received the following email response from lgenergy

"To respond to your online publications this may help but best we have a chat. I am unsure as to where your concerns have come from.

Please read our website we are a reseller of LG this is explained on every page. We are not a LG dealer by choice, LG dealers have to sell products at certain sell rates, if you are a reseller like us you can sell the product at any rate you choose.

I am unsure as to why this is a worry to you and if you would like to speak to customers you are more then welcome to, I can provide customers in your area.

Our ACN has been active since July last year please check online or with Asic.

Office location is in 127 Creek Street we are level 23, yes we rent and work out of a serviced office I am not sure why this would be a concern. Location is great and its central in the CBD.

Please give me a call when you can or check out the above details online, I am unsure to where people online got their information but its unreliable."

Any thoughts I'll try and ring tomorrow?

Would you really buy from a company who pretends to be LG in order to trick potential customers?

  • Just a reminder from this thread:

I would also like to use this opportunity to remind our users here to be responsible when you participate in discussions online, especially regarding to the words you use. Please keep your descriptions factual and be very careful when you use injurious words. For example, when you write out the title describing your recent experience with some company,

    • Okay: CompanyName sold me SomeProduct, took 8 weeks to deliver, and turned out to be something else
    • Bad: CompanyName is scam! SomeProduct is dodgy!

Yes, calling companies and people scammers can be a very serious matter. OzBargain would not be able to shield you from any legal responsibility.

For transparency, some comments here were removed and some have had a moderator note added.

    • To be fair now Actual Lg agrees with that previous comment and so do the courts. Here is the comment I received from LG

"Sorry mate your last message must've slipped through.
LG Australia took them to court and forced them to close the site down. We do not know what they were actually offering, but most reports were that it was a scam setup purely to fleece buyers without them offering any product at all. I cannot personally say as our legal team dealt with it. But the owners of the site even delayed removing it after a court ruling. Good to see it has been removed."

  • I called lgenergyaustralia when I saw the 50% off deal and spoke to a salesman who was quite knowledgeable and he sent me a quote and possible panel location on the roof of my house. I had not made up my mind but I will not proceed further after reading the above posts.

  • This company in now in liquidation …..

Just going to leave this here.

    Did any ozzyb'ers get done?

  • Anyone get scammed?

  • +1

I spoke to "Tony Smith" a number of times.

Regret to say it was an elaborate scam. I, was one of the lucky ones who got my money back. I still don't know exactly why but they initiated a refund. I fear many didn't. Some may still if he hasn't managed to get all the money overseas. Even the moderators were lied to when they he told them it was a pricing error.
