Agora 6 Plus 32GB/3GB Smartphone $299 (Was $349) + Delivery @ Kogan

30

I reckon almost everyone probably knows about this phone.

From reviews I've read, it doesn't perform quite as well in real life as it does on paper because it lacks some of the proprietary optimising such as post processing for the camera. But it's still a good deal; especially at the new lower price. There's nothing wrong with it just don't expect $900 performace. However, if you're in the mid-price market you just might get $400-500 peformance for only $300. A great deal if it fits your needs.

That's great Kogan dropped the price of it by $50 but what's the new price and why not include it in the title? Hmm…

    Price in title pls

Ive never heard of it. How much is it?

    Current price? Normal price?

    Dual SIM (4G+2G)

The dual SIM function will be obsolete once the major carriers turn off 2G very soon.

    • I assume it's a new current price.

I thought the advantage of a dual sim was more that you could have one deal for data or international and another for national. So I'm not sure why they're touting 2G. Weird.

And yes (I think) Telstra has already switched off 2G, Optus will soon and Voda will in maybe 6-9 months (they were the last to announce their switch off.)

  • $299 hah, even with 50 off they can stick it

    • here's the problem

they are asking $300 for an unbranded phone

i believe xiaomi is offering about the same for $200? and i hazard the support from xiaomi themselves is better than kogan not even taking into account 3rd party

Xiaomi is offering something similar for $300 not $200. You won't get 21 mega pixels and an octacore for $200.

I'm not a Kogan fan boy though. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if Xiaomi is manufacturing the Kogan Agora. Someone has to be as Kogan doesn't own its own factories!

I think the Kogan service would be better than a no name. It's basically a way of buying a no name phone with some level of Australian support as in you'll get an English speaker at the other end. Although note how Kogan cleverly makes a Hong Kong company legally responsible!

Again, this might be a good option for someone who's after a mid range phone with slightly better specs than you'd typically get with a mid range. But I won't pretend that it's the deal of the century LOL!

Redmi note 4x for $220 from xiaomi that has snapdragon 625 that pisses all over the Helio P10 in this one and has 3Gb ram as well. Wont beat it in camera but comprehensively beats it in everything else. Kogan used to be kings of price but now are comparatively crap.

        • May not beat the camera in raw specs, but the photos might actually be better.

  • Not really dual-sim as the 2G is being switched off

  • Dual sim function might still work when O/S. One for your local Aussy sim and other 3/4G for their local internet ( if you can bear the roaming charges ).

Would that work in countries where 2G is still running.

Moto G4 Plus would work better for that use for same price locally from GG and Officeworks for the 2G/16G model. Big brand but no NFC.

Interesting to note the recent Sony Xperia XA deal has the same processor as this mobile. Less ram, screen real estate and resolution but I'd still personally prefer the Sony at nearly half the price.

I wouldn't recommend this phone, when the Motorola G4 Plus is available at a similar price point, has no bloatware, runs Nougat 7.0 OS, has great battery and software optimisation, and does 4G / 3G simultaneously on both sim slots, this seems overpriced in comparison. Also, there's the Sony XA.

if Performance is an issue then you'd probably have already bought a Lenovo ZUK Z2 with Snapdragon 820, which is also cheaper…

There are much better alternatives in the $300 price point, even when strictly looking at local retailers without having to import.

  • how this compare to oppo f1s? last month ebay deal is cheaper.
