  • This vs g75

    • G75 is history….G86 Power is the future! ($499 just a month ago, and now $339. Quickest drop in retail price!). Motorola stops including Power Adapter with Gx6 series.

On 03/06/2025 Moto G75 was just $230. I'll wait till it get below $250 again and I'll buy as an extra mobile.

        • Just like any tech device, it will go through its pricing cycle. Most likely it will be $250 to 280 range by Black Friday. :)

Bang-for-buck: consider buying Motorola during their yearly-clearance-sales ~50% off their retail-prices. 2025 models will be clear over the coming-months.

          If flagship-model is your preference: Samsung/Pixcel ~$400 for recent-years model, https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/909223, https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/915652

Annual-release of many-models by all-brand: we're not breaking our phone fast-enough compare to what they are making: supply is greater than demand hence they drop their-prices to incentivise-consumption 😇

    • I wnat this!

the g75 is too big, camera stutters and camera app sucks.

Occasionally stutters in browser and YouTube too!

Anyone know if this G86 has the same missing / delayed notification problems that plague the G84?

  • +1

How many android updates are included ?

    • +4

Only one (to version 16). That kills the phone in my eyes

      • Yes and remember , the G75 get updates to android 19 if Motorola keeps their promises 🤞

      • On odd-occasions Motorola-global do release Android-update for phones that is NOT-promised?

        Moto-G54: promised Android14 only. Early 2025 AU-owners received Android15 updates: maybe global-success due to aggresive-pricing?, https://www.google.com/search?&q=moto-g54+android15+update+r…

Motorola Mobility is a fully American run subsidiary of Chinese owned, Hong-Kong based, Lenovo.

      • Chinese owned, Hong-Kong based

Does it matter if its Hong Kong based anymore, as opposed to anywhere else in china?

        • Im not sure sorry.

I had a quick google to try and help you out, and so far this seems like a good resource to understand the differences.

          https://www.hongkongsolotravel.com/hong-kong-vs-china/

Biggest one in regards to shopping seems to be that HongKong is still considered capitalist and has very different taxes to mainland China.

  • I'm a huge fan of the specs. Got a edge 50 neo recently though, so too late.

    • Same, I'd have loved the SD card slot; 256gb doesn't hold much.

But hey. We get 7 years of support on the neo :) count our blessings.

  • Any other option under $250 budget? Thanks!

      $100 phone… I've never looked at this brand/model so won't comment on quality…

      Maybe Samsung-A35 on clearance-sales?

      When you pay $50 more, you are buying EXTRA-features that can-extend the useful-life & do require forward-planning & educated-guess 🔮.
At the time of my purchase, I never thought that I would use FREE-wifi to download-movies. My phone luckily had a Micro-SD-card slot & I found FREE-wifi in places I often travel.

$250 maybe it's a stretch if you hope to use it as your MAIN-phone in 3+ years from now? Many users have a 2nd phones…likely more if it wasn't being block due-to 3G shut-down.

Remember back in the days when Google Nexus phones were $300?

What is the modern Nexus phones?

  • Is this worth the upgrade from a G84?

  • Welcome back, edge 50 neo.

Major differences: this has added microSD slot but no wireless charging.

    • +1

Just 1 os update and 3 years support, vs 3 updates and 7 years support.

But man I'd love that SD card slot…. So sick of hanging USB sticks out the butt on my Neo.

    • +1

      Also no telephoto camera.

  • +1

    Still can't beat G84's 12GB ram

  • Is Motorola Moto G85 8GB RAM/128GB - $227.05 Price Beat @ Officeworks a best deal at the moment if I am looking after mobile phone under $250?
