Was almost ready to buy it until I read all these user reviews:
    http://www.hdtvsolutions.com/Sanyo-DP46848-reviews.htm?revie…

MOD EDIT This maybe either for another model, which you should check on. Also read OP response to this a few postings further down.

    • Can the usb recording be scheduled? doesnt sound very useful if it cant

      • Don't know about scheduling, but it does do timeshift (apparently). Watch the first half of judge judy, pause it, pick up the kids from school, get back and watch the rest == Win. :-)

    • You've posted reviews of the DP46848, release date Jan 2009, a 20 month old TV. This bargain relates to the LCD46XR10F, release date June 1st, 2010. These are not the same television. Kindly revise your post.

      • TonyP. I think you have made your point. Hopefully the poster will realise his mistake, and it does point out the need for people looking at bargains to read comments, and not just the first one. I have edited their post point out that the review Maybe outdated.

  • Nice price for a decent size TV! :)

  • Anyone have actual experience with this model?

One thing that specifications never can show is the build quality of a product. I would rate Sanyo tvs consistantly up the top in that regard. It's nice when you buy something and it still works 10 years later and that is usually the case with Sanyo (no i don't work for them).
In that review of the 46" mentioned above one contributor was referring to his "I bought a 46"Sony TV" ….not a Sanyo….
With reviews given by unqualified people you do have to read between the lines. A lot will give a product a rave review just because they "get off" on the aesthetics. :-( sad!
That review site also asks for a rating for the build quality of the product. How would the average user have a clue unless they disassembled the item? Build quality is far more than the shiny plastic exterior.
Unshielded speakers nearby, poor antenna leads, bad reception areas and many more factors affect user opinions of tvs.
The gain strength of tuners for FTA tv is something that is very important but is rarely referred to for one example.

If you do a Google search on this product, look in a Whirlpool forum and find a link to reviews about this TV, you'll read about a lot of bad user experiences around the time warranty expires (1 year) - Edges go dark, horizontal lines across the screen.
If you can get extra warranty for it, it might be ok. Otherwise, I'd be happy to spend a bit extra for a higher quality product.

I would not rate Sanyo a high quality product.

both your initial comments and the comments above seem to be based on this post at whirlpool: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies-archive.cfm/149… which relates to problems with other Sanyo models
I certainly can't find anything negative on this specific model via google.
Perhaps you can support your comments with some facts?

      • Can't find good or bad reviews of this particular model via Google…there's basically no reviews.

Quite happy to give this a miss though. 1 year warranty isn't a lot of time and consumers have had bad experiences with the same brand, similar device, similar time frame.

$999 is a lot of money to me and in summary, I wouldn't waste it on a TV I can't find reviews on and only has 1 year warranty.

  • its a good price for a 1080p 46" but it has been at this price for atleast 4 months now at all my local DSE Stores and its been in pretty much all the catalouges at that price for a while. not a bargain price its normal price

  • All I can say is that the cheaper TV's have a lousy contrast ratio like this one 5000:1, that means the black etc look a little washed out. I do have a Sanyo and the picture quality on the one that has a higher contrast ratio is very good for the price, very happy with it however it was only a 32"
