Been watching this coffee machine for a little while, and was very expensive at $599 RRP, but is on sale at Myer for $479.

No space in the kitchen for that unfortunately, and a little over budget at the moment. Has been on the radar before though

I got the bes920 from last good guys deal at $799. I love it, consistent results every time. So much steam too!
My previous machine was a em6910, bes920 is big upgrade over it.
Highly recommend the bep920/bes920 if you can find it cheap.
the BES870 is better

it looks like apart from a larger water tank and the grinder, there is little difference between an 840 and 870

The breville have a smaller portafilter and tamp than regular coffee machines which is weird.
The steam wand has moderate power at best
That's until you get to the premium models
The sunbeam 7000 is what I grabbed instead
This is a great machine. It gets quite a work-out in the office where I work. Great value for what it is.
I got this machine when it was $349 from JB HiFi and it's still going strong.
Did have to repair it after ~6mths (under warranty) as a seal in the milk frother wand let loose.
I make the coffee before the milk, as it takes ages to switch back to the main bulkhead from milk wand but not so much coffee->milk.
The other "issue" is that there is an overflow inside that goes into the tray — it ALWAYS leaks, so I almost always have a small puddle under the machine. Nothing major, just wipe it up as I wipe over the machine after each use.
I've also had two Sunbeam EM6900 and I'd say this can make as good a coffee as those! I'd say my own skill (bean grind, tamper pressure etc) flucutates between a good and great cup of coffee!
For the "budget" machine these are pretty good.
I grabbed this coffee machine about that price. Took it back for the sunbeam instead for a little more.
