      What a deal!

Won't make up for the 3% store surcharge when I spend the money on my AMEX in a store…

  • +5

Simply quote "BONUS" over the counter

In capitals, as in, shouting?! I might hang out at a sleepy Auspost shop just to witness this….

I hope no ozbargainer is foolish enough to use these places to start with. Horrific spread and $8+ fee… you're basically just donating money to them.

    • +5

They are about 3.16% more expensive than the Mastercard currency conversion. Wow….
Just get yourself a free Citibank Plus debit card and withdraw money from an overseas ATM at no fee.

      • so no currency conversion fee at all? that sounds hectic

        • I haven't paid currency conversion fees for many years…..

      • How about for Cambodia?

It seems the citibank card will be slugged with US$5 fee.

        • Citibank has no control over what overseas banks charge. Citibank does not charge you a fee though. You just have to find a bank there that does not charge the "ATM Owner's fee".

        • @Make it so:

Yeah, thanks.. Heading over in a few months, and from what Ive read, all ATM's in Cambodia charge the Owners Fee.

  • Wow really?

A <1% extra money? That's pathetic and insulting. Less than 1% is essentially nothing, so it's pathetic. It's insulting that you think we can be bought by such a small incentive.

You're a business. Not all publicity is good publicity. This is bad publicity.

    • i thought the saying was that all publicity is good publicity

  • @nickomac, explain yourself!

This is worse than CashRewards! And that's saying something!

  • At least this time it is not for "the first 2500 registered card only"

  • Vendor in title please.

    Merchants & Store Representative
Merchants should note that small reductions, excessive conditions, and other costs related to the deal will NOT be well received.

To receive a maximum possible 0.8% cashback, these conditions are excessive. If one simply forgets the magic word, that $20 stays with AMEX.

Compares really well with the other cashback offers which Amex has offered in the past; for example

Spend $30, get $10 cash back, Spend $40, get $10 cash back etc

With this offer, spend $2,500 get $20 cash back (and pay commission and get a really uncompetitive FX rate).

I wonder when rep will reply

    • Not before Associated OP takes OzBargain seriously. Don't hold your breath.
