Moto Z Play 32GB - $539 at Harvey Norman ($512 with Officeworks Pricematch)

Motorola Moto Z Play 32GB Unlocked Phone Black (dual SIM version)

Not sure if this is a part of a sale, but it's a uncharacteristically low price from Harvey Norman ($539, down from $599) and one of the lowest prices I've seen for AU stock, especially if you get a price match at Officeworks which brings the price down to $512.

  • Screen: 5.5" 1080p Super AMOLED touchscreen

  • Memory: 3 GB

This phone is like the perfect balance between performance and having great battery life. Wished they released more phones like this.

Phone has been fantastic so far. Can get two days out of the phone. You do get a bit of lag when switching windows and the camera is pretty meh, but for a phone half the price of the Samsungs/Apples etc. it's a trade off I was willing to make. I wished the Moto mods weren't so expensive, as I would like to try them. I had looked at Amazon/Clove, but it still adds up.

    According to OW description
    Dual SIM Compatible
    No

  • If anyone is on the fence about this phone, then I can tell you as a very satisfied owner, that it is well worth it at this price.

If you want a phone that will last two days with heavy use, then this is the best out there. Runs a clean version of Android too and Motorola are one of the quickest with version updates too (not as good as they used to be though).

Keep in mind that it is a mid range phone, so it might struggle if you are planning on running games etc.

    • Definitely agreed. Purchased one last Monday treating it as my first "mid-range" phone, and it has exceeded all expectations. Camera is the only let down, but man its fast, and the battery life/screen on time is amazing. Probably your go-to phone if you urgently need a new phone now, and initially wanted to wait until the Pixel 2/iPhone 8 announcements.

  • Great phone!

  • This is a great phone.
Its dual sim so I have my normal sim which I use everyday and my travel sim for when I'm away. I just turn the one off that I don't want to use so I don't get surprise charges.

I get two days easy on heavy use. Runs fast - I have nova launcher and a icon pack on and still smooth. Also play games (Simpsons tapped out, Maguss and lifeline)

Camera is ok but I also got the Camera Mod and that really improves it. Comparing the zoom from Mod to just camera can really see improvement.

I had the Galaxy S6 edge before as my main one but now use this as my only phone. On par with the s6 edge but get more battery life out of this.

    • The Camera mod with 10x optical zoom, right? How much is it?

  • Yes that's the one. I paid about $400 for it.
Wouldn't normally as it is expensive and nearly cost of a phone but saw it and sounded alright. I'm a freelance photographer and love to travel.
Don't normally take my dslr with me when popping out for dinner etc when away and don't usually have my point and shoot away.

Can still get photos with out mod but means I can get better ones.

Here is a comparison of full zoom with camera mod on left and without on right.

  • What type of charger does it come with? the proper turbo charger? The one with the cable attached to the charger rather than a removable one.

    • the turbo charger doesn't have a removable cable.
but they also include a USB Type-A to Type-C cable

      • mmm ive been stung by motorola with their chargers. Could you take a photo of the charger that came with the phone? Im interested to see if its the Turbo Charger 30W with USB C cable

  • I still have my moto x style from the vodafone deal a while back and I can't recommend motorola phones more, so good.

My LG G4 is on it's last legs and this looks like a worthy-replacement.
I never have, and probably will never, spend $1000+ on a phone that barely lasts 18mths.

Anyone come from a similar phone (G4) to this?

    • Procrastinated too long, it's expired!

  • I was looking at phones priced around $300 - $400. Is this phone really worth the extra $$$? I paid $850 for a Galaxy S6 and it has really let me down, Battery wise and many other reasons
