Best Men's Running Shoe for < $150?

I currently have Mizuno Wave INspire 9s and they are great - solid around the heel, good cushioning and stability but they're about 2 years old so I'm due for a new

What would you suggest I look for? I just looked at Rebel and Amart and only the Mizunos and Asics seem to have the same strengths as my current shoe but quiet pricey instore..

I've seen the 50% off NB shoes but havent had them before so not sure how good they are - the ones I saw instore didnt seem too good (very soft around heel).

thanks

  • I got $6 flip flops in Malaysia, they're great for running.

    • $6? Man you got ripped off.

      • Nah, I got Fipper. Easily the best I've ever had.

  • I'm a big fan of Nike Free shoes but they're only occasionally at good prices.

Go to Athelets foot, go on there machine which will work out which type of shoe fits your foot the best. (They will give you a few brands/styles) then google. You can usually find last years models of various brands sell quite a bit cheaper. I live asics kayano. I bought the newest ones last year for $200 and managed to pick them up 12 months later for $125.

  • These seem good.

    Where are you running to?

The kind of miles per second you can get depends on how much you are willing to dish out.

    • What a weird site, the prices have a number missing.

      • Guess when you are that rich you can afford to pay in missing numbers.

        • Unless some currency is written this way … $ 1, 60, 000.

        • Relax bro.

The best running shoes for YOU are the ones that fit YOU best. Everyone's feet and runnning style are different.

If you are happy with the Wave Inspires, why not get another pair the same? Why change?

In my opinion if you want a proper recommendation you are better of going to a real running shoe store when you can try them on a treadmill and get advice from people that actually know what they are talking about

    Qualification- I run ultramarathons

Surely its the potential groom that needs running shoes.
What does the best man need running shoes for when his job is merely to put on a stag do, half carry the reluctant groom up the aisle and say a speech after much free booze at the reception.
Its the potential groom facing the life sentence and deserving of a free pair of Asics GT2000's for his new lifetime of serfdom.

  • For comfort I can recommend sketchers, easily the best shoes I've had. The thing is, I haven't ran in years, haha.

  • When you find a good running shoe STICK WITH THEM. Cost me a lot of money to get ones that don't rip my feet apart and now buy them in bulk.

  • Nike Luna Glides for me. I am heavy set with a neutral foot. Have tried various other brands including ASIC Gel nimbus. Ok but for me personally Nike get the tic for comfort and support. Just purchased a pair of lunaglide 8s from the UK runners for runners website $AU151 delivered, which included PP excessive $6 conversion fee. If your a neutral foot you can't go wrong with the nikes.

  • How did you arrive at Mizuno Inspires? Were they recommended to you by undertaking some sort of foot/running observation? Mizuno Wave Inspire 9s are stability shoes so you would need to find similar in the "stability" range assuming it is the right shoe for you

Check your foot by wetting it and then standing on the bath mat. What shape do you see?
Check the sole of your shoes. What sides are wearing out faster?
Do you run with a heel strike?

Peoples recommendations are what suit their foot so you need to do some homework and actually try on shoes

  • From my experience, having owned Mizuno Wave Prophecy, Adidas Ultraboosts and having tried on Adidas Pureboosts, in your price range I would recommend the pureboosts. You can get them when they're on sale at The Iconic for maybe around $110-$130.

  • I won't comment on the "best shoe" to get as this is so much about personal requirements around your own anatomy. What I will say though, it don't pay RRP or anything like it. I may have got lucky, but recently picked up some "last season" running shoes that go for around $200 if not a bit more for $60.
