  • We found the Nutri Ninja Pro did a better job for pureeing baby food. Normally the are $200 but Goodguys have a special https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/ninja-nutri-ninja-blender-wit…

    • Thanks mate, we have a nutribullet 900 we bought sometime back, wonder if it would work, must be able to make it work.

  • I just bought a braun multiquick 9 for my wife after my mothers Bosch failed 3 times so far luckily under warranty, she loves it apparently! Bought from David Jones with Amex points on special.

Edit: Just read your budget! Might not be in your price range.

    • Yeah we did look at it wife reckons its too much for her lol.I did ask her if she wanted it but she said nothing over 120 haha. We have a nutribullet 900w wonder if it will work.

      • Yes but deep down inside she would be happy if you did! haha,, you probably can get something decent for you price range anyway but not sure how convenient a nutribullet vs a stick mixer for pureeing baby food..

        • yeah you're probably right stick mixer is much easier to use i guess.

        • @sammyla: yep especially when your wife is juggling a little one at the same time..

        • +1

I also love the Braun multiquick. Used the blender attachment for puree-ing baby food.
Now my kids are older (but still fussy eaters) I use it to puree out veg lumps in homemade bolognaise sauce and soups and curry bases & use the whisk for lump free mashed potato and pikelet mixture. I also use mine heaps now for mixing cake batter etc. It gets used heaps in our household even though we are well past the puree-ing baby food stage.

  • Quite below your budget but we've been using this from about June last year and seems to be fine.

    • thanks, will have a look at it.:)

    How old is your baby?

I think I just used a cheap Aldi one for a few months. $20 or so.

You don't want to be pureeing for too long.

    • Hes 3 months, hoping to get him on solids in a month, how long do you give pureed food for?

      • A couple of months.

At 5-6 months, you can start with solids.

Then you can steam/cook the food and mash with a fork if required.

        • ok gotcha thanks, by feeding solids i really meant pureed food.apparently you shouldn't give solids to exclusively breastfed babies till 6 months. learning something everyday!!!

@sammyla: the advice now is 4 months and may only be a couple of spoon fulls a day to start with. Apparently starting early reduces allergies later on. Everyone will have there own opinion on this even some medical professional will differ in their advice.

        • @nivag01: thanks.Yeah i agree my wife wants to start at 4 months,i believe we should too.

          @sammyla:

In my (limited) experience of 2 kids your baby will do a pretty good job of self regulating. Try solids (steamed veg, puree, whatever to be honest) and they will either eat it or they won't. We had one breastfed and one mainly bottle fed and they both chose when they were going to eat the solid offered to them at different stages in their first few months.

On the masher question we have a Breville stick that comes with a masher. Does a great job on potato bit have no idea how much it is

  • Try and get yourself a Bamix on the cheap

  • I prefer to just pre-chew any food I give to my baby.

  • We got a Kenwood stick mixer over a year ago for $70-$80 from memory. It pulverises everything, you can't go wrong.

Before that we used a gifted baby bullet which is a variant on the magic/nurtri bullet, do not recommend at all. Eventually leaked can't say it was safe to use, bulky and inconvenient.

  • Avent baby food maker. It steams and blends in one. You can pick it up for the 150-160 mark from eBay.

It's just convenient and once we're done with it, we'll sell it on eBay.

  • My mum makes my daughters food using a bamix, she loves it to bits, I gave up making anything for my baby cause I don't have a stick blender and the normal blenders just don't do small amounts well. Kitchen warehouse seems to be doing a sale for 199 http://www.kitchenwarehouse.com.au/Bamix-Mono-Blender-140W-R…
