  • I assume that I'm an idiot not knowing what this is / is for :(

    • haha I'm going with it's a light bulb… but seems that should be a no-brainer to put that in the title… i clicked to see exactly what it was

      • DUUUUDE!!!! never thought of that.
        You are Mensa grade. Thanks!

    • I've seen them in office buildings - usually recessed and have 2 globes per fitting. Used to be CFL, now LED it seems.

Not sure why they are a special fitting and not just use E27 screw. What's the benefit?

It seems 240V, not 12v, so not like it's a special DC globe?

      • Benefit is for extra maintenance work from body corporates and businesses. These often need the CFL ballast removed before you can put in the LED light, requiring an electrician to do it to comply with safety standards.

  • +1

    You're saying that 6.5w = 18w CFL.

I'm almost certain an 18w CFL would put out more light than 650 lumens, which is what this LED does.

    • Haha, yeah, electricity and stuff.
