USD $130 above RRP… To get in early on an untried/untested/non-reviewed device that ships in a month… Not sure it's a deal for mine.

    • +1

      around 300 is a good deal :D

      • "GEEKBUYING OFICINAL"
This code currently knocks USD $24.50 off the price but it's still ridiculously priced.

    • From a shop that, um, has questionable standards when it comes to actually sending anything!

    • +1

as much as i think xiaomi is the second coming, i wouldnt spend more than 300 on a xiaomi personally.. asking to throw your money away..

      • You don't give the money to Xiaomi, the shooping site pocket it more lol.

        • yeh well thats what i mean.. i tap out at the note series personally the mi5/6 have too much hype and too big a middle man premium parked on, you've gotta be bonkers. especially when 99% of those middleman will leave you up shite creek if the phone just stops working.

wow only FHD screen at this price….

    • +5

It's fine. Even the $1300 iPhone 7 plus is 1080

    • +2

If my eyes can't pick the difference in image quality then I would prefer a 720 screen on these devices so power would be prolong further. Qhd is over kill for 99 percent of people. Any thing at 400 dpi is more than enough for normal human eyes. I own two dozen devices of all made and res to reach such conclusion.

For those with mutant eyes should look or mutant phones that need a extra power brick in toll.

      • +4

QHD has one advantage, and that's for mobile VR

    A lot cheaper on IBuyYou.

Doesn't even have band 28, so fast processor but stuck on 1800mhz cattle class for downloads …..
FHD, yeah I get it, higher res uses more power.

    • Even with only 1080p at 5.15", reports say that battery life is mediocre

      • Because they don't want to put large capacity battery that makes it heavy and thicker, based on mi 5 experience, it should last one whole day with moderate to heavy use. Mi5 barely last one day for heavy users. But the 625 powered Redmi 4 and 4x plus Redmi note 4x all last well over one day due to less powerful cpu and heavier battery,

        • my son has the redmi note 4 and yes not fastest processor but that and a large battery he gets 2 days out of with moderate use.

        • @garage sale:

I brought both device for my relatives and I tested them out vs my own mi5 and Honor 6. The 4000 level capacity battery is very good. But the device like redmi 4x/ 4x is heavier and thicker than mi5.

Personally I don't play games, I would like a 65x power mi6 looking and camera device with 4000 level battery.

  • The premium is too much for this pre order, given Xiaomi devices would later caught up in production capacity, only early adaptor would look at this as a deal, even the rare mi mix now available in quantity shows that the device will be a normal prices in two months time.

The device won't have google app (spying suite) out of the box, it will be china based google less rom with another big brother lol. We may need to wait til our Indian pacific pals getting this before there is an international rom model, this means two to three months wait. Therefore, unless one is a power user will be rooting it soon as unboxing, to bing in big brother google, else best wait. With the prices nearing level of mi mix base model and far more than mi note 2, I do not recommend this.

Great looking/spec'd phone but the initial release price jack is keeping me at bay for the time being.

    Preorder with no shipping date

I've asked before if preorders with no actual stock on hand or even a shipping date constitute an actual bargain and should even be allowed on ozb

Coupled with the fact prices normally drop significantly a month after release, I'm not convinced this is in the spirit of ozb

  • Still no band 28 support, a major off.

    • And unless you are outside Metro areas, band 28 doesn't matter at all…

      • Even occasionally travel to country area but no reception is very inconvenient and can be crucial, vodafone is the only not using band 28 and terrible country coverage anyway.
Maybe because the cost as 835 has no problem on it, just disappointed.
PS. I did pre-order a Mi6, will decide whether take or not when the final price been announced from dealer.

For that much of a premium above the RRP, yeah, Nah…

  • No earphone jack :(

  • Yea, nah.

The premium, no 3.5mm and lack of B28.
