How many windows worth of Farmville can I have open with one of these?

  • I still feel silly for spending 300 odd dollars on the GTX 1060 6GB last year. All I do is play Overwatch which middling CPU throttles anyway.

    • I spent $580 for a 1070 back at the end of January, RIP me

    • I get 60fps in Overwatch using a years old R 280X. If I upgrade my GPU I'll have to upgrade my monitor to one that can do more than 60 Hz.

      • I got a 144hz monitor, but OW on ultra only gets me about 75fps with my 1060. My i5-4400 is limiting it, but that CPU is decent enough to not upgrade but not good enough to get me my 144fps on relatively simple games like OW. I wish I just got a fast i7 in the first place.

  • What are people thinking about this, do you think they'll get much cheaper, or is this a damn good price?

  • Does the 1080 in it's name mean it can run 1080p?

With Volta announced those who paid top dollar for Nvidia flagshit will once again be burnt for failing to be a wise custodian with their hard earned, ah ha…. ah ha… muhahahahahahhahaha

  • I'm thinking about getting the gigabyte 1070 for $540, is it really worth it to just get this?

    • short answer is yes.

    • Only if you plan on using 4k or VR on higher graphics settings. The top end cards (such as 1080 and 1080 TI) is for those who want to push games to run on ultra settings in a higher resolution such as 4k TV's or extended monitors. If it's more bang for buck that you're looking for, then the 1070 wins. Really depends on what you're planning to use it for, or possibly what you plan on upgrading in the future.

Don't forget the AMD/ATI radeon cards, although I have a personal preference for Nvidia, their new cards are well priced and worth a look.

      • Or if you want to run at higher framerates - if you have a monitor that supports it.

Yeah it seems dificult, I am either thinking 1080p with 144Hz or 1440p at roughly 60Hz. That is mainlt for price constraints.

        • Why not both? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

what is it about video card posts that induce seizures in some people

  • Was feeling pretty suicidal considering I had invested in a 1070 not long ago for the same price. However, the fact it's a single fan blower type design takes the edge off. That thing will get up to 83C in no time and will be making a ton of noise while thermal throttling, meanwhile my 1070 will be locked at 72C at 100% load with boost clock 1950mhz no throttling and quiet. Plus I got a gsync monitor anyway so I don't care if the fps drops down below 60. Plus I got an i5 which means CPU is the bottlneck in most games anyway. Well that's my story and I'm sticking to it :3

    • Keep telling yourself that… hehehe

    • Thanks for your life story.
