Great deal if you want a blue switch keyboard. I'm holding out for a cheap brown.

    • They aren't cherry blues. They are inhouse switches.

      ew.

      • I would trust them to be similar enough to Cherry's, but I don't like blues (already have a razer blue keyboard at home I want to replace).

        • …then I guess you've never had proper Cherrys next to clone switches. Even the much lauded Gaterons feel significantly different to their Cherry counterparts.

Clone reds and browns are usually fine, at worst really cheap ones need some lubing. Clone browns (including Gaterons) are usually quite a bit rougher and louder. I've never tried clone blues that didn't feel like toys compared to proper Cherry switches.

        • @Chroma:

Gaterons are widely considered to be smoother actually.

Cherry browns/linears tend to have a scratchy feeling at first.

        • Can confirm. Having a Deck Francium Pro (Cherry Blue) next to the Gamidas Hermes E1 and while they are noticeably different I would be hard pressed (heh) to say which one is objectively better. The Gamidas I have has slightly rattley keys ie brushing them lightly will cause a small noise, as if slightly loose. I paid over $120 for the Deck and within 6 months one of the LEDs had died. With this in mind I would rather have spent half and got a keyboard that as far as I can tell is 95% as good and in reality has just as much chance of being a lemon.

        • @Talsek: my own experience says otherwise, but I don't claim to be a conclusive authority either.

        • @CyberGenesys: I've had a deck hassium at work for about 2 years now. By far the best keyboard I have ever used - and the reason why I want another brown for home.

  • thanks, ordered one

  • You should include the rest of the deal of the day products. RX460 for $119 was very well received last time it came around, and the monitor seems like a good deal too.

  • Is this a good mechanical keyboard though?

    • It's not "good" but there's nothing wrong with it for a budget board.

      • What makes it not good?

        • It's a budget board with knockoff switches and no "premium" features.
I'm not trying to bag it. It's a pretty cheap bargain for a full size mech kb.

        • @coxymla: Yup, but what actually makes it different to e.g. an entry-level Coolermaster?

As for Kailh vs Cherry MX, it looks like some people just prefer the feel of one over the other, at least in the threads I've read.

My Gigabyte keyboard with mx blues just died. Shopping around for a keyboard now. I did quite like the Coolermaster Novatouch TKL (Topre) but it's EOL now.

Quality not brilliant - arrived with some of the keys loose in the box. Space bar sticks a bit.
      Still OK for the price.

  • High Speed 2M HDMI Cable with Ethernet

    with ethernet?

    • HDMI 1.4 has an ethernet channel.

      • Huh, did not know that.

        • Pretty much nothing uses it, and it's on basically every cable anyway so they don't bother advertising it.

  • Gamdias HERMES

Scrolling through the new deals… read that as Herpes
