Connecting to Internet if ADSL Not Available (400GB)

Hi Guys,

I need suggestions on the best way to connect to internet at home if Adsl is not available in my area. I think wireless sim modem might be the solution but I would need a best cheapest way possible to have at least 400Gb data until I wait for Nbn.

No SIM will give you 400GB of data per month. Even if you keep recharging, thats really expensive.

If you have a phone line (doesnt have to be active, but have a dial tone), you have ADSL available. You can check here

Hi KitchenSink. Thanks for the advice but I have checked with tpg and all others and they don't have ports available for adsl in my area.

  • I was in the exact same position to you a few years ago where there were no available ports for adsl. What I did was get wireless internet. The only issue was it costed $200 (was much cheaper if you knew how to DIY it) to setup and now I have a wireless dish permanently attached to my house (don't know how to get it removed…).

    • don't know how to get it removed

      A shifting spanner?

    • Pay an OzBargainer. They will be happy to beat it off.

  • +1 on VividWireless, I literally bought the modem last night from TheGoodGuys (you get free 1 month subscription if you purchase the modem form a retail shop), picked it up earlier today, powered it on when I got home and got connected within a minute - 4G full bars. Check your address on their site, they offer 14 day money back guarantee. When you activate your account, you will have a field for refer-a-friend, being on Ozbargain click on the random referral link so you and whoever code pops up will get a free month sub after your first month. I cancelled my ADSL2+ via TPG due to poor service and I'm very happy right now, I'm getting solid 10 Mbps download and a little bit over 1 Mbps upload speed.
