Has Anyone Noticed Austpost Parcel Delivery Being Ridiculously Slow Lately?

Is it just me or have Austpost been very slow with their parcel delivery lately? I have been waiting on multiple parcels and they are all "in transit". One of them arrived from San Francisco quicker than it is now taking it to come from Sydney to Melbourne.
The rest are also from Sydney.

Unfortunately auspost policy seems to be - if they're losing customers, then increase the cost and reduce the service.

  • Has anyone received the parcel on time from AusPost, would better suit.

I always hate their service. They're insane.

It's been a month since I'm yet to receive replacement iPhone from AusPost. Somehow Auspost is managed to het my faulty phone delivered it to Apple Support with the delay of a week, but Apple sent a replacement phone on the very next day, however, AusPost is yet to sail from Mars and deliver the phone to me!!!

    Fingers crossed!

  • I use a parcel locker and haven't noticed it being any slower.

  • It could be their receiving hubs overwhelmed. Got two mails in April and both of them sat still for over two weeks after lodgement. Once in transit they started to move quite timely.

  • Yeah, I'm still waiting for something to go from Moorabbin, sent 26th April, to Carnegie.

For anyone not in Melbourne, this distance could be ridden on a bike in about 20mins, and I only ordered online to save myself waiting 2 days to go there on the weekend.

    Criminals.

I have got 4 parcel locker SMS's today though, so that could be the above item and all the others finally arriving.

I had an online business over about 4 yrs finishing in about 2015.
I posted around 5,000 Express Post Satchels across Australia over that period for items worth about $300-450 each.
I never had one postage problem!
I had one experience of credit card fraud.

For one who ran a business, surely you would understand that when someone posts about

      Ridiculously Slow Lately

That what happened to you in 2015 doesn't qualify as LATELY

  • I haven't read the other comments here but my experience is this:

I order things from overseas, such as iHerb website and they arrive faster than if I ordered from Chemist Warehouse. Domestic shipping has become a joke in this country. Their policy is all arse-backward, in a time when they are losing customers they increase costs and increase shipping times. They are fast becoming redundant in my opinion.

    • Redundant would be if there was actually an alternative. Most couriers are expensive without running huge volumes through them if they deal with private users at all. Fine if you never post stuff and only purchase it I suppose..

Never had a single issue until about 3 months ago. Now 2 of the last 5 parcels I've sent have gone missing before leaving Brisbane.

Absolutely…the Xiaomi Mijia pens I bought from Tinydeal were lost, a parcel from Darwin took almost 10 days to get to Melbourne…

Had several parcels coming from Sydney to Melbourne…

One of them posted last wednesday, no sign on the tracking system, only shows up on tracking once it reaches Sunshine West…I feared the worst, but the sender had purchased extra cover insurance anyway ($1900 worth of goods)

One posted from Sydney, I had requested a redirect to parcel locker through the app… tracking stuck at "Shipping information approved" since last thursday, today I find it inside the house (my housemate had received it) and tracking still shows stuck at "shipping info approved"…

Something is seriously wrong with their tracking in NSW at least…

Letters sent to me by financial institutions (several cards expired this year) from within Melbourne, or Sydney to Melbourne taking 7+ days to get to me…

I received my item yesterday. Yep, it took an entire week to go from Moorabbin to Carnegie, it literally left Victoria and went to NSW, then came back to Victoria.

The push for privatisation must be in full swing, how is this acceptable? Oh right, I should have just paid more than the item is even worth for express, signature, platinum ultra mega guaranteed, that'd be their answer for their own ineptitude rather than admitting most 3rd world countries have a more functional system in comparison.

RMS/RTA letter was posted 13 April, arrived 2 May, sent from the same city… beyond ridiculous.

I think AusPost are stuck in the 80's and think the cogs of Australia will stop without the iconical AusPost. They increase their rates, they sack staff (packages are misplaced more regularly) they slow down their delivery service. They are their own worst enemy it seems. Keep up or get left behind, if AusPost was an olympic swimmer, their name would be Eric Moussambani.

Yes but Eric the Eel usually got there in the end.
The analogy is not a perfect fit i'm afraid…

        Fair call :)

  • Man their routing systems are (profanity). I sent a few packages out, and the ones destined for WA, ends up bouncing from Sydney -> QLD -> VIC -> Sydney -> WA

Like wtf is wrong of these idiots?

    • You shouldn't complain - that tour usually costs a lot more than you paid.

      • Great idea! Be right back while I pack my family into a suitcase for a well deserved holiday.

  • time to bring alibaba and taobao to the country so we can have free deliveries across the nation, and super fast!

  • Yes! and little parcels that come with the postie on the bike as well. Took about two weeks to get something from Shoppingsquare sent from within NSW. Usually I would receive something posted within Sydney the next DAY but now that is MINIMUM one week+.

  • OP, what do you mean "Slow Lately"?
They have been slow for years!
I can get a parcel from China to Melbourne over night, then it takes 2 days+ to be taken 2 hours drive away.

    It is totally embarrassing

  • Seems like they're normal to me
