    Thankyou :)

  • Does this work for everyone? Says not valid for my account :(

    • Are you using a US or UK account?
This is on the AU store.

      • Nope, seems to be a AU account…weird…how can you tell for sure?

  • Thanks!

  • thanks OP

  • Not valid on either of my AU accounts :/

    • I found the 'go to deal' button didn't work on my mobile, but I switched to PC the offer came up beautifully. Hope this helps

      • Thanks, but was on my PC… tried 2 browsers but nah, didn't recognise me as a previous customer even though I was!

  • I signed up for the free trial.

Can anyone recommend a good fantasy book to try out? I've always wanted to try an audio book

The Way of Kings, by Brandon Sanderson
      Tigana, by Guy Gavriel Kay

the game of thrones audiobooks are pretty great
otherwise recently listened to heroes die, was great. terrible art work though.
the martian is excellent, and in a slightly similar feel to it - we are bob is great fun.

      • I thought the Martian was the most irritating audiobook I've ever listened to. The attempt at humour was disgraceful. I had to stop listening after a few hours.

      • I loved The Martian !

Isn't it a choice between the free trial or first three months for $3.75? Or have I misunderstood? Also, how does cashback work? By my calculations, is $11.25 for three months with this offer and $11.70 back from pricepal, so we can make money? What am I missing?

I would recommend the Warded Man by Peter Brett, but I don't think Audible/Amazon has the best version, which is the Graphic Audio one.Other suggestions: The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss, Gardens of the Moon (or Memories of Ice) by Steven Erikson, Blood of Elves (the first Witcher novel).

      • +1

Garden of the Moon would be impossible as an audio book - I can barely keep track of whats going on when I am able to read as slow as possible and flick back and re-read parts a few times. Brilliant book/series though

      • I too enjoyed The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss on Audible. Took a few chapters to get me hooked though. Recommended.

    • Mogworld, by Yahtzee Croshaw

    • Thanks for the suggestions, I had actually read a few of these but tried "Garden of the Moon" but couldn't find it on the App :(

Ended up getting a book called "Free The Darkness" by Kel Kade :)

      • Free the darkness is such a good book. But be warned there's only 2 out at the moment.

    • The old kingdom series by Garth nix are done well. So is the magicians series.

I've recently started listening to the Dresden files on audible and that works quite well since it's in first person.

    Is this new memberships only?

    • +2

It would seem so. I get this message:
Sorry, it looks like you are not eligible for this offer.

    • Just did an online chat, it is available if you don't have a current account. Once my free book is up, i'll cancel, then use this to re-open.

Silly games, given they're yet to receive any moneys from me.

  • can this be done much like spotify and get an account overseas?

    • You can, but the prices are the same. Eg US$14.95/mo or A$14.95. You're better off with an Australian account unless there's books that aren't available on the AU store.

  • Awesome thanks.

Worth a mention that the Overdrive app provides free audiobook loans with most library memberships.
Your taxes are already paying for it, so might as well get library card and listen to what you can for free. You can often join librarys outside your own council area if your library has no/small collection (they are like virtual books, each library need to license one or more copys of each book).
Can be a bit frustrating with the crappy search and most of what you want being "loaned out".

This is for existing customers who have previously unsubscribed only, as described on the page. Also confirmed this over chat to support. Unless you've been a paying customer and then unsubscribed, you won't get this discount. Managed to get a 50% signup discount over the chat, however.

  • So, the existing customers who already have a subscription can not get this?

  • Thank you.

  • Curious - for those that have an audible account - what is the quality of business, personal development and personal finance etc. style books?

Even fantasy wise - are these books designed and read out specifically for audible? Or would these be the same audio books that these titles would be selling externally to audible? Never trialled it and unsure where they source their audio books (if it's original content). I like the idea but it seemed like it wasn't a marginal cost like spotify (more like buying a book for half the price, but still a decent cost).

Is the book yours to keep/download for offline content once your membership expires?

    • The books are yours to keep after the membership expires.

There are a few articles about how to maximise your Audible membership benefits, such as purchasing three books together (with or without) credits to earn account credit, and other deals.

As for being designed for Aduible, each book is generally noted at the start as being for Audible, but it could be the same reading as found elsewhere.

      • Thanks. If books were a few dollars id be keen. Similar to a spotify and Netflix model. But i remember browsing once and they were too near print sizes. Says 12.99, 13.99, etc. Sure not a 30 dollar book, bt i wish given there's no printing costs, these electronic books were cheaper.

        • It's cheapest to buy the Kindle book, and pay the few dollars for the Whispersync copy on Audible.

An example is buying a book for $1 and then the Audible copy for $3, so you'll only spend $4 for both.

        • @Online Bathroomware:

Could you elaborate abit more on why buying a kindle book allows audible to be topped up at a materially cheaper price than if you didn't buy a kindle version and just went directly for the audible book? Is it due to the structured deals in place?

    Hi All,

Only a few days left of this but I figured out a way to get the deal if you are not a member or have an active membership.

First of all I tried it for the first time and actually learned to quite enjoy having a book read out to me.
I actually signed up 2 different email addresses and got 2 free books (bit cheeky I know) but I found cancelling the membership allows you to use the Promo code link and sign up for 3 months cheaply.

    Just Cancel membership.
Then click the link and sign in again.
    Works a treat.

I enjoyed it so much I will probably keep the membership and attempt to listen to atleast one book a month, and if I find a series I like just support the Author/reader as they seem reasonably priced.
