    I get that this is a video player app, but why would you use it? Is it for Android TV? Or do some people watch movies on their Android tablets or phones?

    A rather oblique comment, but may of use to some. I use Windows VLC as a target for the Android 'Screen Stream Mirroring' app which enables me to watch the Telstra footy streams (AFL, NRL) on a decent sized screen rather than the 7" phone screen Telstra (Foxtel, that is) is trying to restrict us to this season. Yes, I know there are other ways to get to a big screen, this one is convenient and at no add on cost .. :-) .. !! Afterthought: You source needs to be a phone and not a tablet so the image is full screen to start with…..!!
