Free Comic Books (Made from Paper) on Free Comic Book Day, Saturday, May 6 [Nationwide except NT]

680

Free Comic Book Day was the 368th post on OzBargain over 10 years ago and is still going. FCBD is held on the first Saturday in May every year where people are invited to go to their local comic book store to pick up a free comic book. These are physical books, not electronic.

FAQ. Each stores policy is different but at a minimum you will get 1 free comic. For example, Minotaur in Melbourne will be giving out 5 comics per person all day. The 1st 150 customers will also get a goodie bag. Kinokuniya in Sydney are giving out showbags with 4 comics included. So check your local comic book store's website/Facebook for more info.

  •

Your local comic store may also have have discount trade paperbacks and other comics. If I recall correctly All Star Comics in Melb had 20% off all trade paperbacks last year

Will i look shameful as an adult to grab a free copy?

Trust me, it's mostly adults that show up.

ALSO, you'll generally find some good sales at the Local Comic Shops, from 20-30% off trade paperbacks (which are collected graphic novels). My local store in NSW is the Liverpool Comic Shop and they have excellent 25% off already cheaper comics than the city (Kings Comic, Kinokuniya), better prices on busts and statues. They also have 50% off back issues (aka older comics), really cool staff, and because they're not based in the city very unlikely to run out of the Free Comics.
Not associated, just been a frugal comic book fanatic for the past 10 years and find they have the best prices and need more love

25% off Comic Book Supplies (bags, boards, boxes etc.)
      25% off Trading Cards

In fact, it's 25% off everything else

The pitfalls of only having 1 comic store in the entire territory, if Des isn't doing it then there is no one else.

I work at Collector Zone! Comics & Collectables (Shop 3/21 Pensacola Terrace, Clarkson) and I can tell you we are going to have 3000 comics for free. All 50 choices will be available at no charge. We will sell out fast! of comics like Rick and Morty, Wonder Woman etc. We are also going to have a huge sale (probably our biggest sale ever) as well as cosplayers and free candy for all!

  •

Kinokuniya has 20% off from Thursday through to Sunday for Kino Card holders, $15 to sign up for a year so if you are buying $100 worth of trades etc you effectively get the membership for free.
This usually provides 10% discount off everything at the store but they have a number of 20% days throughout the year too ,worthwhile if you buy a heap of books.

    Anything online? Like Comixology?

    • +1 vote

Some of them show up on there, but not all. Search "FCBD" on Comixology and you'll see some previous years stuff on there.

Give it a few weeks. They'll show up gradually.
