      Thank you!

  • Hey op i want to get started fishing, is there such a thing as an all rounder kit that i can grow into?

    • Then go to Kmart. $20 $30?

    • +1

If it seems like something you will enjoy, I'd suggest starting off with a 2500 size reel, a sienna from bcf often goes on sale with a 4-6kg weighted rod. The combos are light, reliable and cheap for what you get. Inclusive of line and tackle you will look at around $100 for everything to start.

Jarvis walker gear from bigW/Kmart for $30 odd is good but the quality isn't there so it will last a short while. But it will get the job done until you've decided you enjoy it and want to invest in better.

Where are you located? Feel free to respond with any queries I'm happy to help!

      • Thanks, I'm in Brisbane - I was taken on a charter boat last week and really enjoyed it especially coming from 0 fishing background. Caught 7 snapper, but 4 were under size :(

Wouldn't mind mucking around with a beginner kit at say raby bay area or similar.

I'm an SEQ based as well. You have plenty of fishing options around here! Brisbane itself, bait fishing will see you into some bream, a lot of catfish and the odd flathead. As for the bays, I can't comment too much as i've never fished them. The brissy area is what i'd say is a hard fish, meaning it's hit and miss. Easiest way to get started is a day/evening trip to the gold coast.

Fish Currumbin and Tallebudgera creeks for bream, flathead and whiting (all good eating if that's what you intend). Pick a spot and fish it. If nothing (it happens to the best of us… a lot), you can move spot or call it a day and re-attempt another time.

The most important things to learn are good knots, many a PB has been lost because of this and i've fished since i was a kid :)

It's just about getting out there and fishing, you learn from experience and you learn from others (so follow people on youtube and instagram (shameless plug of mine @kurtles96))

        • @kurtles:

Thanks! Followed on Ig. What do you suggest going for in terms of bait? Fake or real?

        • @Jimothy: The real stuff is always best to start with as it helps you to get to know what's going on.

Bait -> prawns. you can never go wrong with them, from the server or fresh from coles/woolworths/iga. Prawns around the size of your pinky finger are a good start.

chicken fillets, streak strips, or mullet from woollies/coles can work well. they sometimes have pilchards which are a brilliant all round bait.

Artificial baits are great fun but require a bit of experience. Flathead have to be the easiest to catch on lures.

this is my favourite plastic to use (on a 1/4oz jighead)
          http://www.bcf.com.au/Product/ZMan-Streakz-Curltail-Soft-Pla…

find a sandy area and cast it out as far as you can. give it a few moments to reach the bottom. wind in the line till it's taught and lift the rod up and let the line drop back down as it gets closer to you (plenty of youtube videos on this style; something like this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YkWL2_hWAFU)

Just get out there and have fun!

      Hi,
An excellent allrounder that will get you started, is this combo: http://adoretackle.com/sunset-combo-rod-girelle-xrt-240-2-60…. It includes rod, reel and line. Plus Free Shipping.
Or, you can get yourself something like a separate rod + reel.
      Perhaps a ROD: BALZER (Germany) Diabolo Wobbler Special (6-24 )- Quality IM7 Carbon Spinning Rod (http://adoretackle.com/balzer-diabolo-wobbler-special-6-24-q…) + REEL: CARSON (Italy) HERCULES 30FD 6+1 BB- Quality Front Drag Spinning Reels (http://adoretackle.com/carson-hercules-30fd-6-1-bb-quality-f…) = $64.99 + $38.75 = $103.74. Then apply SVE10 for a 10% discount ( orders over 100$) + Free Shipping.

Let us know if you want more info on anything else.

      Thank you.

      Respectfully,
      Adore Tackle

  • Anything similar to a Shimano Stella?

    • +1

      Hello,

Cannot comment much on competition apart from the fact that I've heard only great or excellent things about this range.

At the moment we have a number of reels with 10 Kg+ drag force, saltwater resistant, etc.
We are also bringing our own " big guns" out, mainly Victor from DAM and we will have TEBEN SEA MKIII, plus a number of other reels with anything between 15-30Kg+ drag power. And the prices will be really good, significantly lower than what is similar out there. Available June-July 2017. We hope that will entice people that want very capable reels but they are on a budget.

      Respectfully,
      Adore Tackle
