Which Credit Card Do You Prefer Most for shopping?

Hi, currently I am using Commbank Low Rate Annual Fee credit card as I am using student account. I was thinking to get a proper bank account and furthermore, to get a credit card in near future. I searched on the internet but there are plenty of credit card with various annual fee, rates or points associated with it.

Anybody can help me out in this situation? what to look for? do's and don'ts.

Thanks!

I'm new to it all but i'm going with
-Amex platinum edge (free year and 15000 free amex points with referral, about $150 worth) Mostly for fuel, groceries and online shops (paypal) cos very few physical shops take amex. About 1.5% back to giftcards. Free $200 travel voucher through amex and eligible for amex offers.
    - Coles Rewards Mastercard- 2 flybuys per dollar spent anywhere ($89 annual fee, but free $100 coles shop offer). 2 flybuys per dollar is okay, compared to most other cards it's pretty similar. Approx. 1% back in giftcards. This card has price protection which is great

Do think about what you want out of it and take your time to decide

    • Thanks.

2nd the AMEX Platinum Edge card for your everyday stuff.
If you are Virgin Velocity user its very good.

3 points per $1 for supermarkets
2 points per $1 for fuel
1 point $1 for everything else
    0.5 points for government stuff
    + $200 travel voucher
    + Access to AMEX bonuses.

    • Use Coles for your shopping so you accumulate Flybuys points ontop of your 3 points per $1. You can then redeem these to Velocity.
    • Flybuys frequently have bonus points available on your dockets + mail in vouchers. So even more points.
    • Use BP for your fuel so you can accumulate Velocity Points per litre of fuel you fill up ontop of your 2 points per $1.
    • Link your AMEX to any direct debts (internet, phone, etc). So you earn 1 point per $1 there.
    • Link your AMEX to Paypal. So you earn 1 point per $1 there.
    • Whenever you want to buy stuff online enter through Velocity eStore to earn even more Velocity Points Use your Paypal account with your AMEX to pay for it.

Very easy to quickly build up points with it.

    • Do you cancel it before the free year ends?
