After 5 Years of Lurking, It's Time for me to Say Hi!

Hi guys. I'm very deep into study procrastination so I thought I'd keep it going and introduce myself.

A bit about me… I was only 14 when I got my first job, registered, + became a daily user of OzB. Not sure there was many that went on this site at that age lmao. I'm now 19 and OzB has been the reason for an absurd amount of savings (salute to all the users who have posted deals I've capitalised on!) and has subsequently been the reason for an absurd amount of unnecessary instinctive purchases.. I guess the big savings outweighs the excessive spending lol. And I guess my mother's Asian genes outweighed my Italian father's in terms of bargaining (more a joke than literal stereotyping haha). I'd say my eye for a bargain has developed to a point that'd make the Ozb Gods proud haha.

I've always found it shameful to admit tbh,, but I am an…. Arts student D: .I study a double major of sound/music + screen/film in uni. I got dux for a few of my subjects in year 12 and very pleasing grades so perhaps could've pursued a more stable and prosperous field. But nonetheless I have resided to following my (perhaps false) hopes of pursuing a career in an area I have an extreme passion for. Considering this, I perhaps will be relying on OzBargain to survive for many more years to come :P.
My humble upbringing has made me very appreciative and aware of every dollar/OzBargain.com.au.
I've been an active user for years on a few music forums/communities and for some reason haven't been active on this community despite my daily browsing of the deals and witty comments. Seriously, some of the comments on deals are horrible, yet so amazing.
I hope to post a bit more often, contribute to a few more deals in the future and get to know some of you guys :)….Unless you guys don't accept me into this community/ I say something bad/wrong. Which i hope isn't/won't be the case lol.

All in all,
Hello!

aaaand back to studying.

Hello Freshie, Welcome! If you have lurked here for 5 years, you would have saved heaps, which is great. I wished I had known about this site earlier, then I would have racked up more savings too.

Unless you guys don't accept me into this community/ I say something bad/wrong. Which i hope isn't/won't be the case lol.

There is no such thing :-) Unless guidelines are broken, everyone can contribute and be a member.

BTW you have nothing to be ashamed of (instead everything to be proud of) for daring to pursue the area you are passionate about. At least you will not wake up one day and regret not having followed your passion.

    See you around.

1+for introducing yourself, something that I didn't do at the time i joined (too scared).

Seriously, some of the comments on deals are horrible, yet so amazing.

Yeah the mods are have recently been cracking down on hate/attack comments, there doing a great job.
Yeah some of the comments are really funny, unfortunately I consider myself pretty good a posting funny stuff :p (some people don't seem to be Star Wars fans, or understand satire or I don't understand satire).

I hope to post a bit more often, contribute to a few more deals in the future and get to know some of you guys :)…

    Excellent, more deals :).
You probably already know #jv the most active user on Ozbargain!
New deals will help jv, he's been getting bored lately and started trolling the forums even posting in the forums, you learn too love him, her…. it…. something.

Unless you guys don't accept me into this community/ I say something bad/wrong. Which i hope isn't/won't be the case lol.

Going by your post you are totally in, you seem like a great person.
Nah nothing too worry about there, me and jv haven't been banned, though jv is famous, (I really must be more careful).

One word of advice don't get in to an argument with jv.

Idk how to quote a specific part of your reply, but I did in this instance mean "horrible" as in like a lame joke/bad pun :P

      • Thanks for the warm welcome!

Everyone is welcome here, though not everyone will get premium access in the exclusive club,
I won't hate on you for doing an arts degree, I went to uni and survived a massive two weeks before I realised Uni wasn't my thing and quit. Thankfully I left before the census date so don't have a crazy HECS debt.

  • so you're 19 now?

    • They've got to crack half your age plus 7 years or it's creepy.

      • so they are only 8 years younger than me ;)

          27/2=13.5.
          Add 7=20.5.
Anyone under 20.5yro starts to look creepy.

You get more latitude as you age:
          50/2=25+7=32
          80/2=40+7=47

But less when you are young.
          20/2=10+7=17

I shouldn't say creepy, I should say "not within the usual parameters of relationship ages" which result in a high five or shake of the head depending on where the observer sits on the age distribution.
