One Plus 5

Hi Everyone,

Long time lurker, first time poster.

So I have been looking out for deals on the One Plus 3T but just noticed that the One Plus 5 has been confirmed with the specs being pretty good.
Just wondering if the price drop in the OP3T would be good enough to make everyone buy the OP3T or would you go straight for the OP5.

Specs noted are as follows:

  • 5.5-inch QHD display with 2,560x1,440-pixel resolution
  • 12 megapixel dual-rear cameras, 8 megapixel front camera
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor
  • 6GB of RAM
  • Fingerprint scanner on the front

Seems like an incremental update only.

They have not named the phone One Plus 4 as it is bad luck.

  • One Plus 4 as it is bad luck

is it One + 4 = 5 which is not bad luck?

    • they are funny ppl, apparently four-n-twenty pie brand is bad luck for them too :|

    • Maybe the Chinese have the same association with the word for 4 as the Japanese have…..death!

  • ARe there any reputable aus sellers that import and sell genuine, non tampered one plus xx devices?

I assume the one plus 5 won't have band 28? My only worry is traditional one plus devices seemed to have antenna reception issues or in some cases lackluster batteries? Wonder if the one plus 5 will be better.

    • I got my Oneplus 3 from Sydney mobile (A gumtree advert for a company operating out of world square, Sydney). Never had any band 28 issues that i notice and I use Optus. Love my Oneplus

  • +3

It can be the best phone on the market, won't matter unless its got the 700MHz-LTE (Band 28) for Telstra/Optus 4G coverage.

PS I prefer a flat phone like the Nexus 5X to fit Glass Screen protectors and increased drop-durability… not like the curved iPhones, S7, etc etc.

  • Don't mind me but, it doesnt look lucrative enough.
What else options do you have?

    • I was thinking about the Oppo R9s+ and Google Pixel (very different I know).

      • I was just checking Oppo R9s+. It seems like a good option.

  • Just wanted to let you know that those specs have not yet been confirmed. They have been rumoured from Oppomart who are renowned for making up specifications so they get free publicity. Look at this thread for example for the OnePlus Two https://www.reddit.com/r/oneplus/comments/3dvxv2/oppomart_ju…
