Nice, Cheap Teenage Girl Birthday Dinner Places around The Inner West (Sydney)

Hey guys,
It's my daughters sweet sixteen in a few weeks and my husband and I want to organise to throw her a birthday dinner party at a restaurant, preferably Thai or Italian as those are her favourite cuisines. In mind, she has about 20 friends she wants to invite but she doesn't want us to spend too much on her birthday dinner. Do you guys know of any nice restaurants you guys recommend that are nice, not so busy on at nights, cheap and within the close to the Inner West area? Looking at spending $350?
Much appreciated!

edit: not all friends will be coming, as it will be on a weekend
edit #2: after reading comments, we have decided to raise the budget to $350

    $200 spend for 20 people… Maccas?

Take some fish sauce along, or some Parmesan cheese, to give it a Thai or Italian element. Best I can come up with sorry.

Also how does a school trip + concert tickets add up to $8k? Is Bieber performing in Antarctica?

Haha, that's ok! Yep, I have realised, didn't really think properly, raised the budget to $350. She's going to Columbia and Vietnam to look at where the money she and her src friends have been working hard towards for over the last few years and the concert tickets were $350 for this international band she's loved for years now.

Excuse my ignorance in geography, but where is Columbia?

Not to be confused with.. well Colombia.

        • @Baysew: ta guys, I thought Linz was just talking countries, didn't think that they were mixing countries with cities.

    20 friends
    nice restaurants
    $200
    Burwood

    Good luck.

    • If it was Burwood, Melbourne your answer is Sofia's.

Hard to return them after 16 years though. ACL only allows for a reasonable time for change of mind exchange.

      You can't be serious?

Bad parents wouldn't be throwing their daughter a birthday party with all her friends, let alone putting this much thought into it.

Not to mention that imbuing them with a sense of fiscal responsibility is setting her up well for later life.

        its a $200 party.

    • Discussion is fine but telling someone they are a bad parent is disrespectful. See my post

      • What if it's true? Generally speaking, not specifically about this thread.

I would say rude, not disrespectful.

        • I was taught the only people that should judge whether or not you have been good parent or not are your kids.

ask your kids when they come of age and become parents themselves whether you were a good parent

telling someone they are a bad parent after reading a parapragh, is pretty much the same as me telling you that you are an absolute waste of sperm, after reading your comment.

    dominos.

20 friends + a few family? For $200? You can't feed that cheaply even with lunch specials, let alone nice dinner. If money's that much an issue, do it at home.

    • I would love to do it at home but my place isn't fit to accommodate that many kids

Shanghai nights dumplings in Ashfield would cater for your needs.
It is reasonably down market (formica tables etc. and sometimes terse service) but super cheap and the food is good. And the ambience would allow a boisterous party.
We had 8 at dinner with soft drinks and water for $75 at xmas time.

after spending 8 grand i dont think they will want to downgrade to Shanghai nights, they want a new shanghai experience.

      • Haha, it was for a good school trip though. She's going to Columbia and Vietnam to look at where the money she and her src friends have been working hard towards for over the last few years. She wasn't really keen on a birthday dinner, it was my idea to organise one for her as it's her sweet sixteen and we haven't thrown a party for her in years. :))

Try bowling if she's into that.

        • @tuzii: Thanks for the suggestion, will let her know and see what she thinks about it!

    • Thank you! Will definitely check them out!

If you really loved your children you wouldn't ask…

My 16yro tried that on a few years ago ("all the parents who love their kids are getting them rose gold iphones"). She has one now, but she saved every penny from her job!

      • Only took a few years ;-)

        • +2

          And only original iPhone.

    • will cost more than $200 anyway.

        • they will end up spending much more, because dessert and they cant tell the family no, and cant tell the daughter no.

its easy to spend <$40 pp in sydney, you just don't buy any alcoholic drinks.

    within $200 budget?
Go for Gelato at "Cow & the Moon" at Enfield.
They can chat while they line up down the street for the BEST Gelato in Sydney.

    • Thanks for the suggestion. Have heard some great reviews regarding that cafe. Will suggest to her tomorrow morning, thank you!

You're going to have to take them all to a food court or KFC.
Or get pizzas and pides delivered.
Soft drinks from the supermarket. Buy plastic cups.
    Woolies mud cake.

    Budget too small.
