[PC] DRM-Free - Renowned Explorers: International Society - FREE if You Have It in Your Steam Library - GOG

140

Another addition to the GOG Connect free games.

Note: You will only get this game for free if you already own the game on Steam. If you do not, you will NOT get the game free.

As I don't know how long the game will be available for free on GOG Connect, I suggest you get it as soon as possible if you own it as otherwise you might miss out. Sadly, I do not have it (if anyone has a spare key I am happy to trade!) so I miss out anyway. ;-)

Enjoy.

  • "get this game for free if you already own the game" Hmmm
What's the benefit in having it in GOG's client?

GOG doesn't have DRM (digital rights management) so you don't have to be logged in to your Steam account (or even have steam installed on the computer) in order to play. On GOG, it gives you a game installer .exe which doesn't need a key or any code to activate. You can throw it on a USB or something and still play it even when Steam's servers go down.

      DRM-free. That's about it.
The real benefit of buying games on GoG is that they generally put some effort into making older games run on modern operating systems, on Steam you have to fix compatibility problems yourself.

Ooooh, this is also on my watchlist, looks interesting. Sadly, I don't have it yet either.

@swimmingtoad - personally, I don't see any huge direct benefit other than having access to the non-DRM version. GOG doesn't actually require the use of their client, although I will admit, it's getting more elegant now.

Sadly they now include Galaxy in their game installers, although you don't have to use it.

      • Hmm, that a new development. I obviously haven't downloaded anything new from my library in a while now. lol.

        • Yes, it's new.

However, I don't know if they've changed all their installers or just the new ones.

  • Cool, just got this game recently in a bundle, so now I have the DRM free copy too. Cheers!
