Sygic Navigation Lifetime Software for Android or iOS 19.99€ (~ $29.55 AUD) (Premium World Maps Or Australia and NZ+Traffic)

650

For the next 24 hours, you can buy the Sygic navigation software (lifetime license) for Android and IOS.
Australia and New Zealand (lifetime) maps and traffic $27.99
Australia and New Zealand (lifetime) maps only $22.99 (reg $65.69)
World (lifetime) maps and traffic $41.99 (reg $139.97)
World (lifetime) maps only $27.99 (reg $111.96)

You buy the lifetime IOS license by downloading the free app, selecting the Sygic store and purchasing your desired plan.

For those who aren't interested in Sygic, you can use:
Waze (free)
Google maps (free)
Apple maps (free)
Tomtom (free for first 80 or so kms)

Sygic is fairly well respected in the IOS App Store (2247 people rated it an average of 4.1 out of 5). Has nice features like lane guidance, speed cameras, crowd sourced radar information and live traffic (if you include it in your lifetime purchase).

If I didn't pay for Sygic, I'd probably recommend Waze. However, in South Australia, Waze is not reliable and frequently directs me the wrong way, even on basic trips.

If anyone has feedback on Sygic, please share it as I've only just started using it.

    • They could definitely improve the searching, it's the biggest letdown for most people.

  • in my test, Sygic is the worst on the user friendly part, compared to Google Maps, Waze, Here map

I paid the same price in April for this, I get the feeling it's an ongoing rolling offer. I paid 29.99 Euros for world + traffic on 12 April.

It's good offline, although the search function for addresses can be not great unless you have it exactly bang on like it has it.

    • Does it (Wrold + Traffic) include Australian traffic as well?

    • They're always running these prices. It's a decent app but not a bargain per se.

Has anyone of you heard or tried Metroview ?
If not try it, I found it to be better than any of the ones being discussed here. I think it's only for Australia & NZ.

  • I have been using this app for a few years, primary for my overseas trips. google is much better when it comes to daily usage (shopping, visiting friends etc). but features like speed camera, speed warning and which lane to keep in intersection etc are very helpful if you are not familiar with the local rules

I have been using this app for about 6-7 years now and I would recommend it. I love it because its offline (yes, now even google map is offline), it has speed camera warning, it has speed limit displayed all the time (in case I miss the speed limit sign in an unknown area).

I bought the worldwide lifetime version with lifetime live traffic in Aus & NZ and find it just ok. It uses TomTom live traffic, which I find less accurate than Google live traffic. The app struggles on the new roads as the map doesn't get updated as frequently as google maps.

If you only travel locally then Google Maps is as good as you can get but otherwise it is not a bad price for a lifetime worldwide version of offline map.

  • I don't like app developers using the word lifetime. Cerberus for example is the one which just changes its lifetime definition at will. Same can be done with any other apps under Terms and Conditions changes…

  • It comes up to +$30 for me, doing it through PayPal.

  • Being a natural born tightass, how much better is this than Google Maps?

Great deal! Too bad you can't pay using google play credit.

I prefer tomtom go's interface and the fact I can subscribe using google play credit using my telstra account is even better. Tomtom Go might be the way to go if someone has a Telstra plan that allows the recharge credit to be used towards google play credits.

I checked the different prices between EURO USD and GBP and found at the current exchange rates GBP was best so thanks guys just bought the premium one for $29.56

  • I have the world licence map that I bought over a year ago after I left the now terrible Tom Tom, it has helped me immensely when on holiday overseas. Thumps up to Sygic, the best out there.

  • How is this one compare to metro view?

  • When it says offline maps, does the app use gps guidance, or it only shows the directions of where to travel?

  • Seems it's only for Android
    Can't find for IOS

    Anyone else tried ?

  • Thank OP. Bought World with traffic for $46. Sygic is good to use via Mirrorlink in cars.

  • Bought it on the website but I don't know how to activate the purchase in the app??

    • That is a good idea, and it should be platform independent.

What have you tried to get the app to find the purchase?

Edit: Ok it looks like the website is selling android only, so you would still need separate purchases to be platform independent.

    • Go to "Sygic Store" in the menu, then "Activate Product code"

      • Yep but where do I get the code from, there's no mention of it on the emailed receipt I received.

        • +1

I got two emails from them when I purchased. The code was in the first, purchase summary, email. The second was just a pdf invoice

I'd contact Sygic if you didn't get a code.

        • @TheContact:

          Have noe found it, thanks!

  • Price still active in iOS

    • Looks like the price is still active in the Android app as well.

  • Sorry guys poor experience in Adelaide. Just got a refund.

I only used it about six times.

Twice told me to turn right where I can't (major intersections, not out in whoop whoop).

Estimated 11 minutes for a trip that took 30 minutes despite relatively free flowing traffic.

    Suggested weird routes.

Traffic seems useless. Very binary. Only seems to reflect red strips where traffic is bad, seems to simply avoid those red strips and give you the next best route rather than use logic to figure out which is actually quickest.

    • That's unfortunate. I used to use and love it here in Sydney-Newcastle a few years ago, haven't used it since 2014 so I don't know if its gone downhill since then. I guess with the option of refund it's still worth checking out. Disappointing about the traffic, you're not the first person I've heard say that, even gmaps offers better traffic which is not right. I always found it bang on accurate, the only issue was inputting addresses in the beginning was more awkward than it should be from memory.

      Hmmm do I bother or don't I…

      • You're right, entering addresses is awkward and even if you save addresses (home/work etc) it's still 4 presses to load the route. This was my major concern with Google Maps which is also 4 presses.

It seems to have a full trial for 7 days. I only purchased prematurely due to the "24 hour sale" bamboozlement - it is still the same price which seems pretty scammy too.

        • I just checked, I bought mine (1yr license then) in 2013. So they've have 4 years to not improve that address issue, that's frustrating.

I'm not sure I qualify for the 7 free days being a former customer (and probably already using the free period years ago) but I'll check it out.
