  • is there any extra codes or anything i should worry about ?

  • Is this instore only or online as well?

    • Sale has started online as of this evening :)

  • +1

Indeed, will have to break up my list into separate transactions to get the lowest price. Seems 2 at a time is the best bet.

  • Universal Monsters collection for $56 https://www.jbhifi.com.au/movies-tv-shows/movies-tv-shows-on…

Combine that with something else for 1/2 price and it's a steal.

    • It has been a lot cheaper. I picked it up from Amazon UK for £13.42 (about AU $30 delivered). If you can wait until it drops in price again.

Edit: My bad. Your right, if you can find a similar priced item, it does work out cheaper with the BOGOF sale. 😳

    • I bought this box set from Zavvi for $18.50.

  • +1

FYI for anyone interested, it's working online already.

  • There's a handful of movies in a buy two, get a free movie ticket offer here - https://www.jbhifi.com.au/features/movies-tv-shows/upsizedmo…

A lot are preorder, but Passengers and a handful of 4k movies are in there.

    • Average movies unfortunately.

      • Moonlight won best picture so clearly it is not an average movie. Patriots day I bought it but its a tough film to watch. I enjoyed the founder too but yeah the rest were pretty meh…

        • +1

La la land won lots of award as well.
But I couldn't watch it all.
          Moonlight had some mixed reviews.

  • So do you need to buy two blu rays same price? And one is free? Say i have a list just do two at a time?
    Is this online also?
And any blu rays but not pre orders though?

    • Cheapest one is free regardless of price. Any Blu Ray just no preorders. This might be a once-a-year sale…

    • I don't think they have to be the same price you get charged for the most expensive one of the two.

  • Is there any way to browse just 3D blurts on jbhifi? I've tried entering "3D bluray" in the search but it shows bluray players and if you just search 3D it shows tvs and 3ds games…

    • Yeah saw that as I have my old DVD Extended Edition LoTR which I have been thinking to update to Blu-Ray plus am yet to get Hobbit Trilogy. Seems better value to get https://www.jbhifi.com.au/movies-tv-shows/movies-tv-shows-on… plus https://www.jbhifi.com.au/movies-tv-shows/movies-tv-shows-on… for less than $95 pickup. Pretty sure I get all the content just not as nicely packaged (nor the sketchbook/paintings of course)…

      • Yep going to do the same thing, seems like a great deal to get all 6 movies in bluray for under $100.
Time to retire my old LOTR's DVD set, hope the jump to bluray is worth it!

    • Not wise… 4K would surely be released soon.

      • When they all come out in 4K they will also be a lot more $$$ than this deal and there's still no set date when that will be, coming from DVD this will be a nice improvement for the time being.

        • +2

oooh, a UHD extended release of them?! drools

  • -5

I see alot of LOTR posts. Come on, it's been on tv a gazillion times already and it really wasn't that great. Same goes for the Hobbit trilogy.

    • +1

Yep watching it on tv vs watching the extended edition blurays is definitely the same thing.

      • -3

Yes, I think it was on channel GO (super lame low def) but that wasn't my point.

I just found the concept of bringing a clumsy lame hobbit on an impossible mission and having to protect him was absolutely ludicrous. The 2 two main characters were just super lame (Gandalf the superb swordsman but terrible magician and annoying baggins and his super pink lips).

Not trying to step on your toes, it's just not worth buying unless in the clearance bin.

        • Each to their own I geuss, I personally think that there the greatest movies of all time but then I'm strange…

        • @zacsg1:

I personally think that they're the greatest movies of all time

          Replay popularity proves this.
I'd wait for UHD release - Jackson originally filmed at 48Hz and it is best experienced that way.

        • -1

          @zacsg1:

It has some great action scenes and some really great scenery and great music score! Very watchable but unbelievable even in its own setting.

Oh, I forgot to mention Leggolas the Jacky Chan elf and his superb kung fu matrix skills in a medieval-esque fantasy setting.

          I knew I'd get down voted…….

  • +1

Upcoming 3D blu-ray releases look slim. Doesn't look like there's much hope that studios will keep releasing 3D blu-rays for years to come. Fingers crossed for a glasses-less 3D TV in the not too distant future.

    • The format is dead. They've given up.

      • Judging by the votes I'd say no but if you have a 4K player then obviously don't bother with regular Blu Ray titles.

        • Agreed format is dead all the new TV releases are no longer 3D.

Some 3D were really good and some were average.

        • +2

If you have a 3D TV, you really should check out Kubo and the Two Strings:
          https://www.jbhifi.com.au/movies-tv-shows/movies-tv-shows-on…
It's one of the best movies I've ever seen! It's a stop-motion movie, so the 3D is real. The story blew me away. I haven't felt that moved by a movie since watching Spirited Away.

Conversely, some of the movies that received the most hate had the best 3D effects. My wife and I both deeply enjoyed Pixels and Gods of Egypt in 3D despite all the terrible reviews. It's nice to have a crappy fun movie with bright colours and good music to watch while you're trying to unwind. People seem to forget that movies are supposed to be entertaining. People usually vote Schindler's List and Shawshank Redemption as being two of the best movies ever made, but there's no way I want to watch those after a hard day at work!

Just a heads up guys. The website is just discounting the cheapest ones for the cart, it is not pairing the most expensive ones. So for example, I have 2 x $40 and 2 x $10 and its charging me $80. Try to do separate transactions online as well :)

    • +2

Shipping is per item so there's no disadvantage to making separate transactions.

      • +1

Thanks for mentioning this. I had no idea postage was per item. Therefore there is no disadvantage to splitting up transactions online. Best way to approach then is to make a list of everything you want, sort the list by most expensive to least expensive, and then 2 AT A TIME go down the list to ensure the system doesn't just discount the cheapest titles.

    • +1

They do this too at the store! I bought two $30 Blu-rays and two $20 Blu-rays and they tried to charge me $60 instead of $50. It took about ten minutes of explaining to the checkout worker that if I bought them in separate transactions I would only pay $50, but all together they were trying to charge me $60. Frustrating.

To make matters more confusing, one of the $20 Blu-rays had a $45 price tag, and one of the $20 movies had a $35 price tag. So there was no way to know which ones were cheaper or more expensive until they were scanned, at which point they try to charge you too much.

Eventually I just found the prices using the JB Hifi website on my mobile phone, wrote everything down, and the person at the checkout finally understood the confusion. It was sorted out, but took way longer than it should have.

  • Not letting me proceed to payment on phone or pc.

    • same here. something is wrong :(

edit: kept trying, and it finally went through - tried both pickup and delivery and both work

  • +1

Just tryed online buying 4 movies

    2 at $40 and 2 at $25
And got the lower ones free

No matter how you do it always gives lower
One free in store does it do it the same way

If so maybe better purchasing it separately unless there all $40 or all $25

    • +1

Lady in Adelaide was nice enough to do split orders, though ironically as mentioned earlier the prices were stickered wrong so wouldn't have mattered much anyway…

      Online, just do separate orders.

      • Just went in store and grabbed 6 for $120
Thats my movies set for the week :)

  • So I just got back.
Mate and I went together and combined got 20 blu rays/4K
There was a sign on the door and around the movies stating that each customer is only permitted one transaction as in can not split blu ray purchases into multiple.
My mate just got some for me and used my other card to tap and go.
But yeah just a heads up some stores (my partner saw sign in a different store) are not lettting you split transactions.

    • just buy 2 then re-queue? :)

      • I was able to do multiple separate purchases in pairs at the checkout without having to re-queue.

    • So you just visit them twice I guess :/

    • If I saw that sign at my JB they would cop a spray from me :-)

      • +1

I'd give them a spray and walk out. Both jbs I went to encouraged it.

  • +1

    Hi,

Check you invoices… they don't pair similar values together. Their Computer pair's most expensive and gives you the cheapest one for free.

I took mine back and got the credit, and put two new transactions through.

    • So they are doing exactly as they advertised?
The lesser value are free. Get 3 at. $$29.95 and three at $19.95 the $19.95 ones will be free.

    • What do you mean is this online? I purchased some last night for pick up and if items are same price like say $9.99 thats all you pay as other is free. If one say is xx amount and other is less you pay higher price but other item is free.
So im not sure what your getting at?

Like if one item is $39.98 say and other is $34.98 say the $38.98 price is what you pay other item free.

  • Problem with website, click on "Continue to Payment" and everything is greyed out, no option to enter payment details. Have been trying for the past hour. Tried Safari and Chrome on a MacBook, no good. Anyone else having issues?

    • i had the same problem only when trying to pickup. Delivery was fine.

But being cheap, i kept trying on to pickup in store, and finally got through after about 5 tries.

      This is on Chrome/Macbook

      • Heads up with online orders for pick up in store.
JB's system does not allocate the stock to you until the staff in store pick it for you.
This means you risk the items you want being sold before they get picked resulting in you missing out.
I got caught out recently so if there is something you really want just go to your local store and grab it. Don't wait for a click and collect order.

        • +1

i got the email from them to pickup, so i'm assuming it's been picked by staff already and ready for me.

i'll pick them up tonight if i can to be sure.

        • A similar thing happened to me recently. I ordered a BR as part of the last B2GOF sale that according to their website wasn't available in any stores and had to be sourced from their supplier even though my local JB had it sitting on their shelf. After about a week and half of waiting for them to pick and post it out to me I contact them asking them what is going on and they sent my email through to this local store and the manager said he would pick it and post it.

The next day I get an email from JB's online store saying the item has now been deleted and I'll be refunded my money. A few hours later I received an email from someone at my local store saying yesterday's manager is off sick today so he didn't post it but she has now popped it in the mail for me. Two days later the BR arrives in the post and a couple of days after that the refund on my account went through!

A complete dog's breakfast but I wasn't complaining getting a free BR out of it :)

    • +3

Discovered you have to select 1 as delivery, go through to payment, then go back to cart, change back to pickup from store, then when you go back into payment (for all titles selected for pickup) the payment page will come up ok.

  • Can anyone think of something Blu Ray to pair up with $85 Attack on Titan Season 1 ???
    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/310460

    I certainly can't….

    • Star Wars: The Complete Saga 9 disc box set? Planet of The Apes 8 disc box set?

    • better deal to get season 1 part 1 n part 2 separately. today at Merryland JB I saw each one only $39.98, meaning u can get the whole season 1 on its own for just $39.98. no need to worry abt what to pair with.

      • Boo hoo hoo! I'm in Victoria, Merryland is NSW.

I'll need to go drive around town to see if there's something similar in stores locally.

    • LOTR's box set? That's going for $84

      • -2

Wow! Why didn't I think of that? (Sarcasm)

Our favourite scene is where the Rohan cavalry charges head first into a heard of elephants that are bigger than a brontosaurus. Alexander the Great had problems getting his cavalry to charge at normal sized elephants. Wow, Peter Jackson deserves an Oscar!

    • If you're into anime in general, My Hero Academia Season 1 just came out at $70 (collector edition). It's a pretty good series.

      • Never heard of it, but I'll check a few episodes out since the plot seems pretty unique.

    • The Walking Dead Boxset is pretty good series to watch —oh nevermind, it's $240….

      • I've done my purchase but I still need to decide what to pair District 9 $12.98 with. (I can only think of the Matrix for now).

  • +2

It annoys me several titles price increased just before this deal eg. GOT S6 Blu Ray was $29.95 now $34.95. JB prices are more volatile than the Stockmarket!

    • thankfully I purchased Manchester By the sea on release day at Sanity for $7 less than the JB Hi Fi price. Then the Bogof sale was mentioned here and then I was like meh I already bought it anyway.

  • +1

How does this have only 195 votes… easy eclipses every other deal on OzBargain this year by magnitudes.

Got 12 4K movies, and a few box sets. Sad to say I own nearly every movie released in Australia I want to own now. There is still quite a few that aren't sold in Australia which is quite annoying….

    • I just gave in and ordered lone survivor and hacksaw ridge on Amazon…

    • Not really, the prices on alot of blu-rays in past year have increased by magnitudes.

    • Wow, you must have quite the collection for owning almost all the releases that has come out to AUS!

  • checkout online is not working

    • -3

Nor is your ability to read earlier comments

  • Is anyone else planning on purchasing something expensive, getting another copy and selling it on ebay to offset the cost?

    • -1

Yeah. Got 100 copies of Ultra HD movies for $10 each to sell on eBay.

    • Not me, I don't wanna give ozbargainers a bad name.

  • Can someone clarify for me, and yes I know its a dumb question but on the 21st is the sale still on but last day or is the 21st at like 12:00am that it ends?

Reason being Orange is the new black season 4 comes out on the 21st and I would like to combine that with something else :P

    • +2

If the sale ends on Sunday the 21st with JB it means it finishes at 11:59pm Sunday night.

      • Awesome, I can't upvote your comment for some reason (on mobile site)

        I wasn't 100% sure :)

  • Anyone think they will add 20% off? I have already bought a few Blu Rays but am waiting until last day just in case

    • Not a chance

      • They did it last time right?

        • BOGOF sale 03Mar17 + 20% off + subscriber 10% off voucher. Credit card took a beating that day!

  • +2

Ay, bought over $100 worth of blurays………lol went back into the queue for each couple……………..took a good few hrs of waiting and searching…I think one of the staff gave me the stare because I kept coming back…hahahaha

Also, on an related note, I was at the ATM casually withdrawing but instead of withdrawing, I somehow broke it! hahahaa So walked off to use the next one and the guy behind me came over to get his turn and then he was like "Out of service?! How the (profanity) am I gonna get money now?!" in the funniest voice you can imagine! I was giggling on my way back….. Oh my god I couldn't stop laughing/giggling for a good two hours, yes it was that funny!

Just felt like sharing because I thought it was funny…. :P Damn if only I had that recorded and played back….or and upload it here for you guys to listen….

    • The girl at the store I attended was fine about separating the transactions. I suppose each store is different.

  • Got the Hobbit 3D and LOTR extended edition trilogies for <$100 delivered. Cheers!

  • Can anyone recommend some must have movies of the last 5-10 years ? I'm trying to stock up before the sale ends. I'm open to all genres

    • +1

My personal picks (in no particular order):
