Good cPanel Reseller in Australia?

Hi lads,

I have recently had some management issues with my web hosting provider of almost 8 years. I currently pay about $2500 p/a to host about 100~ cPanel accounts. I have never had any issues with my host up until they were recently purchased by an overseas company and hired staff from India. I am very experienced in the industry but have become to the point I cannot afford to spend time on minor things, the old host was perfect at doing exactly this for me. It shouldn't take 3.5 hours of back and forth to modify some MX records and change an account in their DNS cluster to point else where but it does now..

All sites are PHP based with MySQL backends, all are custom written from the ground up and are very efficient. Because of this it is important to me and my clients that the sites are fast and have almost zero down time. The problem I have is that I have been with this company for so long I no longer keep tabs what companies are good or not.

As all the clients are on cPanel accounts it would be unwise to go to something else.

I have looked at the following companies, i'd love some feedback as webhosting talk is pretty much dead these days.

binarylane
networkpresence

I do not want to deal with these ones;
exigent
panthur
ventraip
netregistry
uber

I am looking at probably a VPS or a shared server that isn't oversold.. if shared I'd need shell/whm access so I can transfer all the accounts myself. And most importantly, Australian based support.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

edit: Worth mentioning that these accounts only use a total of about 50GB disk and 300-500GB bandwidth per month.. very lightweight (and not illegal :P)

  • It looks like a poor DNS cluster setup. You should be able to change DNS MX record by yourself in WHM/Cpanel. DNS change can take a few hours to propagate though depending on dns resolver cache.
Your budget is plenty for a managed Cpanel vps enough to host 100+ websites.
Are you using hosting in Australia and require new hosting server to be in Australia as well?

    • Yeah current host is Aussie, in Melbourne but Sydney or Brisbane is fine.

I have access to modify DNS records but needed a bunch done and hoped tech support would sort it for me. That alone isn't really worth the hassle of moving everything but past 2-3 months have been pretty poor (billing errors, domains not auto renewing etc). The ball dropped a few weeks after the takeover and some of the old staff "no longer work there". Just a lot of small things but are adding up to be annoying. I requested today to have more disk space added to one of my single cpanel accounts that is separate to the main reseller and was told no (never been a problem in the past) but got told to upgrade to another plan which is 240% more expensive per year.

The cost I would like to reduce as the accounts are spread across a number of yearly reseller accounts on different servers (same host), I probably should be paying $1,000 less per year for what I actually use.

      • $100/month may be possible but difficult to find good host with Australian server, especially if you prefer to have vps with cpanel.
My recommendation is subscribe a monthly payment plan instead of yearly.
Any cpanel host should offer you free websites transfer.

  • 100 sites, here you might need this

    • Haha, 75% of them are customer sites/accounts. The rest are just personal sites of mine, photos and stuff.

  • +1

Talk to Netorigin. After 3 years, never had to wait more than a day..Ever, for a response…The usual is minutes to handful of hours. Based in Perth and excellent support.

  • You should probably check out elastic sites, currently getting popular. Elastic Sites ensure that you get all the resources available in a VPS, but in an isolated shared environment that is easy to manage, much like a shared hosting account. Few Aussie hosts provide elastic hosting.
