Coffee Beans $13.75/ $23.49/ $42.50/ $98.50 for 500g/1kg/2kg/5kg Delivered @ 2BrothersFoods

30

With the influx of quality (yet expensive) coffee bean deals lately, I felt it might be useful to some to know about the coffee selection at 2 Brothers Food. It is very cheap and comes with $3.50 flat delivery (up to 20kg) Aus wide (as far as I know - please correct me in comments if not).

No I don't know when it was roasted, but I am generally very happy with the coffee. My favorite one is the Organic Indonesian Gayo Mandheling Coffee Beans.

Living in rural WA I also regularly do my bulk food shopping there, can't go wrong with that flat shipping rate.

Sorry JV, it's the normal price but still worthy of a post IMO.

Enjoy!

  • Without a value feature differentiating at 'normal' Price I fail to see how this is a bargain.
You can get supermarket beans cheaper, never heard of 2 brothers.

    • Sorry maybe the post isn't clear, this isn't prepacked coffee but freshly roasted beans. I'm not sure how fresh but it's still miles ahead of any supermarket bought coffee I've ever tried, and still cheaper anyways.

  • for people living in rural areas the flat rate shipping is a draw card, Coles and Big W have beans on special at similar prices, BUT to get them delivered is prohibitive, so this deal is great for those who don't live near a coles or safeway but have a coffee grinder and enjoy a fresh cup.

  • I use 2brothersfoods for my cafe. Cheapest way in WA to get panela sugar and a few other things like gf flours, some dried fruits and xanthan gum is ok. Some things are expensive though.

  • Oh, I wouldn't touch the coffee beans with a 10 foot pole though.

    • Why not?

      • Because I know nothing of them. I bought the Sensory Lab special to try because they have a 'godly' reputation, their single origin was as good as anyone, and their 2 milk milk blends were decent. I am also a bit of a fusspot (read:snob) when it comes to coffee.

I could write an essay in response to the question above, but in the specialty coffee scene, I am yet to see a reseller of coffee stock very good beans.

If sub $30/kg is a priority, go see Craig at Antz in Vic Park. Normally coffee in this price range is roasted a bit darker than the kind of coffee I use in our cafe, so if you want to get the best from it, you will need to use it with a few days to one week of roast date.

If the coffee you are getting goes through an extra set of hands before you receive it you can practically guarantee that it will be older.

Please note there is alot of generalisation above to keep my response mildly short…

        • +1

Yes, if you are a coffee snob then this is definitely not for you. In saying that I appreciate a good cup of coffee (ex barista myself) and I find the balance between price & taste to be good with this offer.

To get the coffee from Vic Park (every week!) is not an option as I live 450km from Perth. Even if I were still living in Perth I doubt I could make that trip every week or that it was worth the cost of time and fuel. Thanks for the heads up though, I'll check it out when I'm in the area next.

  • Bought the $98.50 5kg Colombia beans in July. Delivered in 1 big plastic bag in post pak. No roast date. No flavour. No follow up. Never again! Stick to Manna or equiv.

    • I think buying 5kg of coffee without trying it first may have not been the wisest. I have sample the different beans by buying 500gr packs until I found the one I was happy with (organic Indonesian - link in the OP). For ~$14 for half a kilo to try I think you can't really go that wrong.

I think you should consider giving it a second try as the value differentiation between those beans and Manna or equivalent is substantial.

EDIT: note that even from Manna or equivalent, not everyone are stoked with every roast. You have to find the ones you personally like. My 2c.
