Great value considering the Big Mac is $6.25 by itself.

In the McDonald's mobile app, simply click on Big Mac and then click on the 'Golden Meal' tab. Heres a screenshot

Is this available at every Australian McDonalds restaurant?
No, but available at most.

Do I need an account to make an order?
Yes you must register an account and pay using a credit card in the app to place an order.

Can I pick it up in the drive-thru?
No, walk in only.

My device wont let me place an order?
After you have put in payment details, you must have GPS turned on your device and be very close to the restaurant to place the order.

Can I order multiples of this deal at once?
Yes there seems to be no limit in the app.

Can I swap out fries and drink?
Fries - yes, only to a salad.
Drink - heavy restrictions. Only able to swap soft drink to a soda water or peach flavoured ice tea

      No. Not yet anyway. When you check-in (you have to be a close distance to check-in), it gives you the option to pick it up in store.

      Saying that, you can do the whole order as you park your car and it's already ready inside.

      If only it always stays $5!

    My closest store Lynbrook Victoria (Hampton park) does not accept this promo. I don't usually shop there anyways even though it is close to my home. The service there is terrible.

    It works as long as it doesn't crash on a loading screen. Once the order was placed, it was very quick.

    Did anyone notice the disclaimer in the app that says:
    "*Price may vary at time of purchase"

    If it says $5, shouldn't it be $5?

    This make no sense.

      Yeah I noticed this last night. They add a 50 cent fee then add GST making it $6.05 at North Shepparton McDonalds. Highly misleading. Made worse by the fact the apps is painfully slow.

    Ordered 1 normal Big Mac and 2 Big Macs with no beaf and 1 MChiken patty for $13.80.

    Ended up getting 2 MChicken patties in each burger:)

    well Maccas has really stuffed up this time it seems. The app installed & loaded ok, selected my items,then in store i go to 'place order' & it came up with 'oops we're having problems connecting try again' or whatever. Pressed it about 10 times,same thing. Tried switching from my phone connection to the free wi fi,& also closing app & restarting,then it crashed.
    So i asked if they would still give me the deal since the app would not work & they said ok.Server told no one else had asked to order with the app & they'd worked the last few days.Seems not many people know about it,which is probably a good thing since it doesn't bloody work! i know i'm not the only one since reviews on Google Play store reflect same issues.

        samsung Galaxy Core Prime,i doubt its the phone, KFC, HJ & Red Rooster apps all work smoothly for me.More likely to be the app itself of the Macca's network thats the problem.

        Cheeseburger 3 for 3 deal and Chicken n cheese. Nothing else. Is it worth havin a whinge to McD's somehow? Seems redundant to have an app for a burger restaraunt that wont let me buy burgers using it.

          @brandogs: Whats bullshit is that I saw it there the other day, BEFORE I did all the steps in the OP. I had dinner plans that night and no intention to do it, just tested it to see if it works. So they either removed it and plugged the leak, the app is garbage or some other phuckery I havent considered.

    Could not order when I tried, said I needed to be closer despite being at the store. Went in and showed them the app, and pointed out I could not get any closer, the manager put it through anyway manually as a regular meal and discounted it.

      had the same issue the first time i tried. I managed to fix it by force closing the app and re ordering the meal. Obviously has a few bugs that need sorting out.

    I ordered this earlier today, requesting 0 beef patties and 1 McChicken patty in my Big Mac. Ended up with a Big Mac with 1 McChicken patty (lower) and 1 beef patty (upper). It was… different, but not bad.

      I saved the deal to my favourites and I'm still able to order it. Regular menu is now glitched where I only see $3 cheeseburger meal and chicken n cheese burger.

      Officially it expired on Monday 29 May, but due to glitches in the app and stores not updating their menus, there are cases where people are still able to order it.
      The current golden meal is the Quarter Pounder.
