  • Cut Proof?

    • It's usually described as slash-proof

    • Bags with slash proof panels will generally resist a blade attack. They provide an extra level of security by making it difficult for would be bag slashers to get their hands on your valuable belongings.

obviously… this isnt a steal (of a price)

Thanks for the reminder. I purchased one from Officeworks for $10 from a deal on here in November 2016 and forgot all about it. Just checked and still sitting there waiting for me to collect.

What if someone steals the bag ???

All you need another anti-theft bag to put this anti-theft bag in.

      • Can you do a matroska cascade of anti-theft bags? Bagception?

        • In my younger days, they were called recursive

    • These bags feature a detachable strap and buckle to allow it to be "chained" using a fixed object like a pole, to stop an opportunistic grab and go situation. The straps have steel wire so it's more secure than a rope or cable.

      • What if they steal the pole?

      • +3

allow it to be "chained" using a fixed object like a pole,

It's going to be a pretty boring holiday if I need to keep my bag strapped to a pole.

All depends how attractive the Pole is, how heavy the bag and how far they are willing to carry it for ya.

(added on edit) Damn nocure poleaxed me.

Just a warning - great features etc but the potential danger lies in if someone drags you along with the bag (ie roadside snatch by motorbike or car)

  • FYI you can easily pry apart plastic zips like these. It happened to my friend's suitcase when we were in Thailand. They'll use a pen or similar to initiate the split between the zipper teeth, then simply drag it along the length of the zip, while the draw-tag is still at the end.

these don't look safe at all, sorry.

No wonder why new stores avoid this site like the plague these days.

    • on youtube look up "Breaking into a Suitcase"

I don't know it's possible on these because I don't own one but the zips on it certainly look similar to ones with this vulnerability

Yeah, I watched a guy on youtube get around the safety locks on suitcases, basically any suitcase with a Zip.

At least on this bag as a small plus, the two zippers can be padlocked together so you would at least know your bag has been tampered with.

      • yeah true, they'd have to leave it unzipped, but your valuables are still gone

    • ReallY!? Why would anyone try to pry apart a zip un noticed when they could just as easy rip the whole bag off your shoulder or flog the phone or wallet carried in back pocket or hand?

      • +1

if that's your argument I'd argue against buying a theft-proof handbag for valuables to start with ;)

  • In November the Zoomlite Metroshield Anti-Theft Tablet Bag was at Officeworks.
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/274145

    • that was an older design and different material, the strap design was also different amongst other differences (discontinued now for a while)

  • Products like these prey upon the gullible & paranoid who think they need one of these for a Bali or Thailand holiday. If you're travelling somewhere this is likely to happen (pretty much nowhere the average tourist goes), you probably shouldn't be going out unaccompanied, or going at all.

    • I came to the same conclusion years ago. Never ever going to Bali.
