  • Good deal and for Windows 7 Pro! :O

However, too bad it comes in red only. Would of preferred black or some other colour such as silver or blue.

I wish the processor is better than Celeron.

Pointless to put RRP… static ice has it down for $695.. thus is a good deal, but not $300 savings.

    • RRP is the price as recommended by Toshiba Australia.
It does not mean anything other than that.

      • +5

It means a deception of making consumer to believe they have actually saved $300++

As pointed above it is more constructive (and honest) to the community if the cheapest price available instead is mentioned.

Nonetheless (also as mentioned) it's a good deal cause the difference is still $100 compared to cheapest around.

        • +1

Guys I can only go by the price of RRP
I cannot advertise it as "$99 below static ice price."
I am being 100% honest, the RRP is $958 as listed by Toshiba Australia.
Savings are always stipulated in reference to RRP.

The fact that it is available somewhere else other than MLN at a signaficantly lower price than RRP is due to the following possible reasons that we have no control over, as a company we can only comment on the RRP for the following reasons that could possibly have occured and have occured in past situations.

          1) No stock is actually available at our competitor and the price is lowered to keep pricing "inline" with MLN
          2) Stock is purchased from MLN and then sold at a slightly higher price by another reseller. We cannot stop anyone from buying from MLN online and then reselling it.
3)Stock is being cleared at the resellers expense for a very small limited quantity. As the product is now harder to sell and they may be stuck with some of this product at the higher price.
          4) A Small quantity has been purchased at a mich higher price and is being offered as "bait adveritising"
          5) Price is not genuine at all and never was.

I am not saying that any of the above has occured in this instance, but these scenarios have all occured with static ice listings and for this reason you will not find MLN on static ice even though most of our products on our website would be the cheapest on static ice anyway.
Static ice cannot be used as a reliable benchmark for pricing analysis, it is only a general feel for pricing and even then in most cases it should not be treated as gospil.

      • This is not a reply to your post, but, is it possible to search by screen size via your website instead of by type i.e. 'business', 'ultraportable', mainstream etc?

        Thanks

      • I agree with Windstone24. We're no idiots here, and there is always someone comparing it.
So save yourself negative comments and put a meaningful comparison price in the title.

      • I know what RRP is, and I believe majority of people who checked into OZB does too..
the point is, RRP is something that probably belong to the paper/magazines sort of ads… but not on a site where you have a large collective of bargain savvy hunters. ;)

        • +1

          ok guys you win
I will remove the RRP as it is not relevant.

          • +1

            @MLN: We're a hard bunch at Ozbargain ;)

            • +2

@shaun-o: Its ok I like this place :)
Just trying to provide factual information, it is up to people to determine what they like, but it should be based on facts.
Saticice should not be treated as a reliable source.

Hopefully not part of Toshiba's recall because of melting/overheating issues. Toshiba have a high failure rate.

    • Nope it isn't. The T130, T135, T135D and T135 Professional is the one currently being recalled however.

    • pointless. ibm/sony used to have exploding batteries in the past, so does that cause current sony/lenovo laptops to have high failure/risk rate as well?

    • I've clearly upset some Toshiba fan-boys. Sorry. :)

      • Gee wonder who you referred to… never ever own a toshiba myself. ;)

  • Aren't these the ones that over-heat then blow up and have just been recalled? I think I read it was the T series.

"JAPANESE electronics maker Toshiba has recalled 41,000 laptop computers worldwide because of a fire risk.

"The notebook computers can overheat at the notebook's plug-in to the AC adapter, posing a burn hazard to consumers," the US Consumer Product Safety Commission said.

The computers involved are the Satellite T135, Satellite T135D and Satellite ProT130.

The safety commission said Toshiba has received 129 reports of the computers overheating and deforming the plastic casing area around the AC adapter plug."

Even though this listing is for the T110, I won't gamble on this one as the model number comparison is putting me off. I'd say that would explain the price drop. It's practically a netbook anyway, slow processor, no optical drive, low ram etc etc

    • No relevance,
this is untrue and does not apply to the T110.

    • find me a net book with 250gb storage, expandable to 4gb ram also runs at this cpu clock speed AND the rest of the features like HDMI slots, a/g/n..etc at this price point.

are you one of those who condemn an entire brand just because of 1 recall? Gee.. I wonder which brand/products do you end up using at all.

from memory, i've seen recalls made for at least one of their products from ibm/hp/acer/asus/toshiba/sony/samsung/dell/compaq/epson/hitachi/fujitsu/gateway/panasonic/apple. if you don't use any of those brands.. what brand is your laptop? ;)

am pretty sure you won't shop at ikea too since they always have product recalls due to safety reasons.

edit:added apple. their shoddy QC for cracked LCD screens and back panels in their older laptops.

  • Not quite a super bargain at this price with this sort of spec …

  • not a super bargain =x

  • Not too bad, but don't really like the Celeron 743. If it would be much better if its Celeron SU2300.

Overall, its something way better than an Atom, but don't expect too much from it. Also note that the new CULV i3/5/7 are here and it will work their way to the shelves pretty soon.

  • For those who want a more powerful CPU I think the T130 for $745 would fit better.

To think that it was selling for $799 almost 6 months ago…
    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/23802

But I do note that wasanewguy has pointed out that this has been recalled, but for some strange reason people are still selling it (e.g. iibuy, Penta, UMart, etc) and it's still listed on Toshiba's website bizarre!

    • The T130 is a 13.3 machine and is different to the T110, the T110 is a 11" notebook with Win 7 Professional, and 2 gb ram, I would position it above a netbook and below the T130.

  • or purchase Lenovo Thinkpad Edge 13 from MLN for $649

  • @MLN
$189 for +2 year warranty seems a bit steep (Via this advert, I trawled your website and found the dm3-1021tx laptop for $796. This probably suits me better). Can you do anything with the price of the upgraded warranty? I understand that this is a flat rate applicable to any laptop in your range, it's just that it is out of proportion with the cost of a cheap laptop.

Also I'm a little concerned over how the Nvidia GT105 may impact battery life too. It's a very odd match for an ULV cpu.

    PS:
Who cares if they quote RRP? It's up to you to check it. It's standard advertising, really. I'd normally call the first in-stock unit on staticice a fair check for the consumer, when postage is included and optional extras like warranties too if need be.
