    i really dislike you

i end up buying watches, wearing them for a week and then falling back to either my seamaster or submariner

btw, the victorinox or wengers are the cheapest swiss watches ever, as long as you're ok with quartz

    • There are some reaaalllly cheap Swatches out there.

    • I really like you.

I end up buying watches, wearing one of them, and then another one, and then another one, and then another one, and eventually starting from the beginning again.

    • same for me .. fall back to luminous as it has larger numbers os easy to read or my seamasters to show off….. but i do like some of these deals for general purpose weekend watches. wear a citizen ecodrive promaster now when swimming as it's less risk than loosing a seamaster ….. one is at the bottom of the ocean in Vietnam. :-(

Is that why they call it a Seamaster?

More than my is worth to get caught buying another watch…..
      ……unless I get it delivered to work……hmmmm

      • ironically i didnt want to use my cheaper watches when i was doing renovation work as my seamaster puts up with this kind of abuse without any damage

my seamaster put up with 10yrs plus of work on construction sites and military bases, granted i'm just a network eng.

submariner is just too valuable to wear but at home usually (my dad gave me his)

i did some house painting as well and i draw the line at that… cant afford to use any watch for that, not even a $10 casio

  • black or white dial. Can't decide

    • I think the black one is more versatile - will look good with business or 'dress' attire (eg. dark suit, darker clothing) whereas the white one will look stark in that situation and is probably more suited to casual or "outdoors" wear. Just my 2c.

One you go black, you'll never go back.

    • I like the white. Black is too common. Just bought the white for myself.

  • Are these an ETA movement akin to Glycine?

The white one is tempting. I predict the price will rise rather soon.

  • is the S/S brace worth $40 more ?

get the stainless ….. i find nato band uncomfortable on hot days and they don't look good in office environment. it's cheap and easy to get nato bands but not a factory stainless band …. very expensive.

got my luminous with stainless band and several years later still glad i did.

if it has screw down crown i would get one but it seems nobody has confirmed screw down crown, but you tube seems to show its push down crown.

The black dial with SS Bracelet is only approx AU$17.50 more. I've added it to the description.

The problem is the Aussie shops take the US RRP, ridiculous as it is, adds currency exchange, gst, import duty, shipping, distributors cut, B&M tax and Aus FU Tax and expect you to bend over…

    I've got a general question.

I've got a few Citizen Eco-Drives, and like the idea of not needing to change a battery. This is partly as i did have a super watch that i loved like i love chocolate once, and some time after i had the battery changed the watch body fractured (i think the screws were turned too tightly). I also was a little unsure about its waterproofing given i didn't have a replacement rubber seal so used the old one.

So am i just paranoid triggered by this traumatic history, and should i be chilled about battery watches, such as this one?

    • They can last a long time, but they won't last forever.

Thanks PJC, but they won't ship to Oz.
I did try to look for one a couple of years ago but they were too expensive then - now they're just hard to get.

With WatchNerd loitering my ambitions have expanded a little, and that one did break!

In any case my question was more along the lines of whether i should avoid battery watches. I've got this idea every time i open the case for whatever reason then i'm looking for trouble.

    • And here is an inexpensive Casio Edifice with a thermometer:-

  • I have received my watch. The quality is ok. I don't believe it is worth the retail price by a long shot. The second hand does not hit the dial mark on half of the time.

    • You are paying more because it's a Swiss made watch.
If you want the best quality vs price, you should look at Seiko (Orient) Citizen & Casio.

  • I just received mine, can confirm it is a PUSH-DOWN crown, and NOT a screw down crown.
