Buying New 7 Seven Seater SUV and Need Your Suggestions

Hi,

I am planning to buy 7 seater SUV and got couple of choices:

  1. Mazda CX 9 Azami MY17 Brand New
  2. Land Rover Discovery Sports TD4 HSE MY16 done 19K KM.

I am thinking of going with Mazda just because that is a brand new car, got more space inside and have more features like start stop, smart city break, etc..

On the other hand I see the brand i.e. Land Rover, diesel engine better fuel efficiency, exterior is lot better, comes with panoramic roof. I have tried online reviews for both the cars and they both have same reviews.

My budget is around $60K.

Can someone please suggest or advice me on the above 2 cars?

Thanks

  • If it hasn't been mentioned, Skoda have just released Kodiaq seven seat SUV. It's no powerhouse but hopefully more engine choices will become available.

If you like to drive I think the CX9 is the best bet so far, though I won't be getting one as I'm sticking to wagons.

  • The new CX9 is amazing car and it should not be compared to previous CX9 models. It is your choice….. test drive both and buy what you prefer… either way you will not go wrong…
I personally prefer turbo petrol as it makes the car much more responsive

  • -1

    Mercedes G class or equivalent.

  • I would say cx9.

  • Happy owner of the new CX-9. Good car.

  • +2

2nd hand Toyota prado, 28k would get you one. They rarely have anything go wrong with them, 3.0 d4d engine is as tough as old boots and easy on fuel are a great car and hold their value really well.

finding one that's done less than 100k and under $30k is a big ask. that and a 4 cylinder driving a 2 tonne is painfully slow.

  • Alfa Romeo Stelvio is coming out soon, should be around same price as Audi Q5 (63k). Fiat have already stated the next gen Jeeps will be based on it, so isnt just a crappy SUV.

    • 7 seats?

  • Skoda Kodiaq when it lands in a couple of months. Superb space and price/performance. Their top spec'ed will come under $55k with the entry level starting at $40k.

Surprised no one mentioned it. Makes all Jap/Korean boxes over priced and under specced.

    • Surprised no one mentioned it.
      Are you serious?

    • Starting at $46,290. Specced with both packs, metallic paint plus sunroof brings it to $56,290.

What does this have over the Japanese/Korean cars? Pretty good price for a Czech box but not enough torque and DSG could be a liability. Would be good to drive the 140/400 when it lands as that is a better comparison. It also seems smaller than a CX-9 or Sorento.

  • Looking at a cx9( probably touring model min.), has anyone got a good price on one to give me a negotiating benchmark?

  • Thanks everyone for their recommendations, I have test driven CX-9, Disco Sports (2016), Sorento, Parado, etc.

I loved CX-9 drive, it drives was really smooth same for Kia sorento, interior is lot better than the lot, got all modern features you can think off may be missing couple compared to luxury vehicle like Diso Sports, etc.

    Thanks guys.

  • Do not buy Kia! I have one and had issues that Kia knew about but didn't disclose to me before purchase. I got stranded in canberra and out of pocket until they fixed it. The customer service is a joke and the roadside is minimal.
