Swann gear is trash. Get hikvision or something similar if you are remotely serious about CCTV. Different pricepoint, but the time you spend installing this and amount you regret buying Swann will eclipse any different in price.

Check out this whirlpool thread before buying: https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2617093&…

    • Well the expensive cameras will then be the valuables the thief tries to steal then. I don't see real benefit of getting really good security cameras for home use unless you have gold bars in your home safe combined with monitored alarm.

      • Can confirm salekhards point though. Bad quality and the NVR broke after only one year.

You get what you pay for. Pay what you want but you may be buying again sooner than you think. Whether the thieves steal it or not.

Be careful. I bought an 8-channel kit (NVR8-7285) from Kogan but ended up receiving the older 7085 NVR - i.e. 720p instead of the advertised 1080p. Still trying to get a new unit sent without any luck. Will have to resort to filing a PayPal complaint.

  • It's a shame we don't see any deals posted on affordable/value for money Hikvision setups considering the amount of times people recommend them.

    • That's the thing… Quality doesn't need to be discounted to sell. 😊

      • Best place to buy hikvision gear?

        • If you're in WA I can help you out there through work.

BUT you will get better prices on eBay as on e-Bay it's mostly non-Australian stock not intended for sale here (some menus in Chinese for example).

But if you want Australian stock warranted in Australia feel free to PM me after telling me what you're after.

  • Same price as the Swann direct click frenzy deal recently:

Great value for the specs & whilst obviously not up to Hikvision quality (or price!), probably a lot better that most of the old analog systems around for a simple home setup.

  • I hope they are good. I bought one a couple days ago. Get it this Monday. Will post a screen shot of video quality Tuesday if all goes well.

  • Looks like the deal is over. Showing $699 now :(

  • Just a quick update. I tested the cameras and they don't appear to be 1080p. Only 576 pixels high.
Is there anyone else out there who has purchased these cameras and can check please.
I backed up a video file to usb, then checked on my pc.
I have contacted dick smith via email and will update when I get a reply from them.

    • Mine's ok. I also replied to your query on the forums but I'll also copy the video parameters from one of my recorded files here.

Also are the cameras the correct model number (NHD-810) and when in the Device Settings and you go to the Encode option what is the resolution set too? Mine has 1920x1080 as the only option.

      Width : 1 920 pixels
      Height : 1 080 pixels
      Display aspect ratio : 16:9
      Frame rate mode : Variable
      Frame rate : 25.000 fps
