Travel Sims Direct - Anyone Bought a USA Sim Card Recently?

Looking at TSD's AT&T sim card for $99 (RRP is supposedly $149) with free shipping if the code 'post4free' is applied at checkout. This comes with 6GB of data and unlimited calls and text.

I'm comparing the aforementioned to usaprepaidsimcard.com.au and their 6GB + unlimited calls/text plan (also AT&T network), which is priced at $119 including delivery.

Has anyone had any recent experiences with these plans, and which would you recommend?

  • Just read this: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/255226 so I know who I'm inclined to go with now.

  • Got the AT&T ones in Feb and July last year there, all good. Worked fine in America, Mexico and Canada.

TSD looks to be a one man band working in a co-working space in the Melbourne CBD. But, how many people do you need to sell sim cards online?

  • I bought sim card for japan and usa early last year. Both worked fine. I did not use much data though only for google maps so i don't know if the issue with 200mb limit a day mentioned in other topic is the same on my sim.

  • i just walked into AT&T and bought one there….used it for 2 months no problem

    • Thanks. Will Google where the closest AT&T to LAX is tonight.

  • I bought it on my first day in USA - one for wife, one for me. One T-Mobile (for unlimited unmetered streaming), and one AT&T. Definitely, AT&T had wider reception up in Montana/the pacific north west, but the T-mobile was excellent too.

We were there for 3 months. Worked well. You end up saving so much money when you dont get lost, can check bargains, reviews. I used less data than I thought, but we used wifi at nights at the hotels.

  • I usually buy the simcard on eBay before I leave, something like this:

Then when you arrive buy credit at any convenience store to top it up. The 6gb + unlimited calls and texts plan is AT&T's $45 Gophone plan.

    • Thanks that's a brilliant tip

  • What about Woolworths mobile? Anyone had any experience with this? Rates look affordable and a good "straight off the plane" solution:

  • I used simcorner on my trip last month. Service was great, no reception issues.

  • For anyone interested, I ended up buying a prepaid card from AT&T in the US. Cost was US$45 and comes with 6GB data and unlimited calls.

  • Anybody used Arieli to pre purchase sim before going? $48USD for unlimited everything including international shipping…sounds too good!

  • Has anyone had any experience with cricket mobile or metro PCS? they seem to be the budget NVMO 4g providers with a decent unlimited plans? Or would a T mobile unlimited plan be the go?

I am looking at getting 2 lines - one for me and my wife. How do the lines work? Do you get 2 sim cards?

I will be in the USA for a month in June and would like unlimited (keep todler entertained and google photos backup).

    Thanks

  • I bought an unlimited data sim from arielimobile.com.
Took about 20 days for delivery but it worked really well in US. I was in Boston and NYC and had good connection. Would definitely recommend
