    LOL @ consumable wood pellets..

  • Outrageous product. My first thought the last time this was posted, was how cheap is it for them to make? Must be a pretty amazing markup. I have noticed Bunnings and others now doing small portable gas pizza ovens for around $60 as well.

  • A better option might be to buy a flat piece of pizza steel for your home oven like Modernist Cuisine recommends. That being said this looks cooler.

Haha, I read as TOTAL RRP $59.97, but sale price $424.00. Wow what a bargain!

pizza is easy to make and even cheaper to buy …… my. next culinary investment is a tandoor oven …. no such thing as cheap chicken tikka. and you can use left over tikka for curries for lunch at work ….. reheated pizza doesn't have the same impact….. chicken tikka ….. lots of uses.

Um, guys this isn't a Bunnings gas cheapie. This is a wood pellet unit. basically it uses wood pellets as fuel, which gives a similar taste to wood ovens with the convenience of gas. You probably won't get the same identical taste as a real wood fired oven, but you will get something better than a gas unit or oven.

That being said, 60 bucks for a 15kg bag of unknown wood pellets is a rort. I pay 43 bucks for a 12.7kg bag of premium Green mountain pellets for my Traeger. If you want random pellets, you can get cheap bags of pellets from BBQs galore that they sell for their pellet heaters that are also safe to use with food. Iirc it's about $20 for a 10kg bag.

    • Hi FiftyCal, you are 100% correct with regards to your comments on the oven. Bunnings ovens are low cost gas ovens, which are not really 'pizza ovens'. Yes they are an oven but differ completely from a traditional pizza oven with convection currents and heating from top and below.

In regards to the pellets, sending 15kg of bagged pellets around Australia costs on average between $30 & $80 depending on location. Picking up pellets locally is what we recommend however we offer pellets so that people who may not have access to local food safe pellet suppliers, such as customers in regional areas. Further to this, our pellets are the recommended pellets and that UUNI sell themselves in the UK. The pellets are imported from Spain and are not the cheap, left over timber waste products from factories in Australia.

There is a vast range in pellet quality with differing moisture content and wood materials. This alters how the pellets both burn and produce smoke, some alternatives used for pellet heating can provide prolonged black smoke and leave large amounts of ash. Unlike the pellets that we supply which leave minimal ash and burn very clean. Appreciate that from the outset $60 seems expensive but the cost of the freight is this issue and we are continuing to find a solution that can bring the freight/shipping cost down.
