Blood Pressure Monitor

Hi,

What is the reasonable price for a manual/auto pump digital blood pressure monitor?

My dad actually wants an old fashion, non-digital one but none of the pharmacies I checked carry them anymore. Does anyone know where to find those?

Thank you!

Grace

It depends on whether he wants to actually manually inflate the cuff and then have a stethoscope to listen and determine diastole/systole? There are plenty of medical suppliers around but these machines are generally $200+ and a bit of overkill if you just want to do random checks on BP. docstock.com.au will give you a starter to look. Hope this helps.

Well I believe your dad is right in asking for a non-digital one.

My blood presure shows up high on digital ones. My GP uses stethoscope to listen and determine diastole/systole, which shows normal. Reason, my GP said is that my heart is quiet so the machine does not pick up properly.

I am also after a stethoscope, could you please PM me if you find a reasonable one, preferably in Melbourne.

    Thanks.

  • bluesby09: Ya, I tried to get him the manual inflate + stethoscope type but they are so hard to get now. Thanks for the site, I'll check it out!

spal: I actually thought digital ones were more accurate but my dad insists on a non-digital one because he doesn't trust technology, I guess he is right then. Will PM if I do find one, I'll try looking on eBay too.
